The Living Connection With A Childhood Habit

You won't believe I actually had to ask my siblings a question regarding this topic before I started to write. It's funny how I went blank thinking of the habit or lesson I have been doing or learnt since I was a child. Well, my siblings pointed one out and even though they made it sound like it isn't a really great habit, I still feel proud about it that it is helping me today.

Me: What am I still doing that I've been doing since we were little?

My siblings in unison: Story telling (you like to talk story well well) 😂

The way they said it in unison had me laughing for sometime and trying to deny that they were lying against me 😂 but on a second thought, they were so right and saying it so quickly and at the same time kinda proved it that it is indeed one thing I've been doing since I was little.

But you should know I do have other habits and lessons learnt from childhood, have that in mind but I'm more than glad to focus on this habit pointed out to me hehe.

Thinking back to my childhood days, I am the eldest child in our family and had to care for my siblings while dad was away so I had to devise means to keep them happy and not feeling lonely about dad's or mom's absence. Telling stories when they are not playing outside was one of my way out.

Another thing that inspired this habit in me is my love for stories and movies growing up, I enjoyed writing stories but I read a lot more back then, dad would always update our animated movies collection. I was either reading a novel or writing a story or seeing a cartoon or telling the stories to my siblings.

Somehow, that became part of me growing up and I've never felt tired of doing any of that except nowadays that I rarely read books. You won't blame me but the school that stressed my brain before I graduated 😂 but I will definitely go back to read books someday, I need to.

Back to my childhood habit that still lives, Story telling must be one of my hobbies as I always feel happy doing it and it is mostly with people I feel comfortable to be with. Even my friends at school did noticed and applauded my talent in telling stories as I always seem to know every detail of a story I tell 🥲

This habit however doesn't help me in gossiping, the facts aren't always true so I can't tell the story well enough. That makes me stay away from telling real life stories except in cases I'm very sure of or witnessed. Yeah, you could accuse me of being a gossip but I always have it in mind to say what is true than lies most of the times.

Coming to Hive, this habit is helping me a lot. It was what brought me to Hive in the first place as I didn't find it so hard to share my thoughts and gradually, I learnt how to modify and improve on it. So it is a habit that is living still as I live, and I am loving it.
