Seeing Addiction For What It Truly Is: The Turning Point

Before now, I always thought that only those who take drugs and drink too much have an addiction to fight. It took me time to realize that there are more things one can be addicted to and one may not even be aware of, and that means, there are no plans to stop it. Addiction is a serious matter in our world today that so many are dealing with.

I've heard people who say "It's not an addiction, it's just something I love to do" just because it isn't drugs or alcohol. Eating too much, scrolling through social media endlessly, and even playing games too much are addictions. I think one of the main reasons any habit is called an addiction is that they may not let us do other stuffs well.

Before we can say an addiction is a disease, it was first a choice. Peer pressure has made so many people indulge in a habit that they thought would be their first and only time but somehow, they grow an addiction from it. It's crazy that some addiction lead to others, even getting addicted to medical drugs is also a scary one.

I saw a video today that showcased so many illnesses that comes from being addicted to the internet or social media. People neglect their real life problems by scrolling endlessly on social media and it's causing the world to have more imbalanced people, emotionally and mentally. All those are proof of addictions that are taking over.

I remember how surprised I was to find out that one could be addicted to food, I was like "We need food everyday, that can't be an addiction" but then, it was explained better that there are people who just keep eating to get rid of some feelings like people take alcohol to forget their sorrows. Some people are addicted to self-hurt.

Examples of addictions are endless. Personally, I think an addiction I need to work on and stop is procastination and inconsistency. I'm also addicted to my phone because I realized how bored and down in vibe I was when I had to stay away from my phone for a while. It's crazy how we feel when we can't indulge in our addictions.

Addiction is first a choice, and then, it becomes a disease that should be seen as it is before the attempt to stop it comes in. It's not easy to overcome an addiction but accepting that one has an addiction goes a long way in getting rid of it slowly. So many are stuck with their additions because they fail to accept they have addictions.

Addictions may seem right or impossible to overcome but I've seen and heard of people who overcame theirs. So it's always best to know there is a problem to think of a solution and that applies to addictions too. The turning point from an addition is seeing addiction for what it truly is. It is a disease that resulted from your bad choice.

Addiction is something that we gradually do until we can't stop it..something we find fun doing , just like endless scroll , until we become addicted to our phone . But just like you said, once we detect that there is a problem , by then it can be fixed , if not, we continue to swim in addictions ..lol

I agree that addiction goes beyond drugs. Anything we can't control is an addiction, and screen time is one that affects almost all of us.
