Rom-Com Perfection: "Love To Hate You" K-Drama Review
Perfection may seem overexaggerated for just another rom-com series but I can't help it, this is one of the perfect "enemies-to-friends" you should add to your watchlist. I came across the series by chance and I immediately wanted to see it because I love storylines like this for my romance and comedy - A slow burn love story.
I first saw this series about five months ago but for the records, I've seen most of it's episodes over three times and that's your cue to know it's a story with remarkable episodes and scenes. Even before I decided to write this review, I had to watch a long video review of it on YouTube. It's nothing short of what you will love in a storyline.
"Love To Hate You" is a 10 episode, 2023 Korean drama series starring Kim Ok-bin and Teo Yoo as the leading cast. The series remarkably shares another "enemies-to-friends" story with good comedy to have you feeling very good as you watch. The genre "rom-com" is made beautiful in this story of an attorney and an A-list actor love.
An attorney who despises losing to men, dates and dump them without having real emotions for them, meets an A-list actor in one of the most annoying situation where she hears how much he hates and distrusts women. She begins another mission to make him fall hard for her and make him regret his thoughts about women before.
The comedy part of the story is, she is an attorney who uses her fists more than the law and how she sneaks her way to get closer to the A-list actor in the attempt to execute her plans, acting like she's a big fan of him when she actually hates his guts. From their first meeting after his remarks to the end, it was good comedy.
I'm not sure how I should feel about the concept of actually getting reactions when a guy have a skin contact with a lady because of a psychological illness but I love how the A-list actor (Teo Yoo) who seem like the best romantic actor but hates to touch women, began to warm up to Kim Ok-bin, his management's attorney.
It's so exciting and lovely to see how the two who hates and never thinks of love as anything had to be in a forced dating contract with each other to get rid of an escalating news, slowly fall for each other while still trying hard to make themselves think they hate each other. I'll give it to the supporting cast (Kim Ji-hoon) for proposing it.
I've not seen any of the main cast in other series but they definitely won me over with their acting skills, the hate they gave felt real just as much as the love they gave when they realized their feeling. Seeing Kim Ji-hoon in this series was like an icing in the cake for me, I've been a fan since I saw him in "Stars Falling From The Sky" series.
I think the cast for the main story was perfect for the role, showing matured minds who are yet to express real love and they both activated theirs without realizing, using hate. I always like to see love triumph over hate and this story gave a good dose of it. No much suspense, just a lively story to keep you excited and smiling until the end.
If you want something light, funny and heartwarming, this is a short series for you. I'll rate it 9/10, a sweet recommendation for you.
