Rethinking Child Services: Balancing Protection And Family Unity
Now that I think about, I've not really wondered much about child services and how it is being run in my country, Nigeria. But I've heard of a lot of stories where abandoned or maltreated children are being taken care of by different organizations that came together for the mainly to provide safety and the right to living for many children.
A movie I saw some time ago actually opened my eyes to a lot about what goes on in organizations that are created to save and care for children who are not so privileged with the kind of family they were born into. Children are heritage from God and birthing them means a responsibility given to the parents but many have failed in this.
This is why before counting out the downsides that can be tackled and given solutions to, we must appreciate the initial intention of child services in our world today. They have proven over a long time to save a lot of children who fell into the wrong hands and have helped many of them become better people in the society today.
One of the child services I'd like to focus on regarding this prompt is, the foster homes or orphanage. These organizations are some of the ones I've seen a bit more closely how they are being run. Growing up, I hear of people visiting the orphanage home for the sole purpose of sharing the little or more they have with the kids.
And I hear of how badly things get for parents that they abandon or maltreat their own children then some good samaritans offers to take their kids in and care for them, some parents are actually forced to let others care for their children as they are taken away from them without consent or their children run away from home.
Child services like the foster homes don't really do too much that I'll say is breaking homes but this have given rise to liable parents who thinks it's their way out of responsibilities after bringing a child to the world. I heard a story of a particular organization that cares for bodily abused children especially by rape or domestic violence.
Honestly, I'm not sure how these people are going too far with their intentions but if there really is, it should be that they are leaving behind the main reason they had created their organization for. If that is the case, they should be called to correction and a solution be given like creating more awareness and education.
The organisation should state their motives clearly and be very transparent in all their endeavours regarding the children they have in their care. They should be aware if they are breaking homes and made to go over their actions and procedure to correct whatever mistakes are being done in all their processes.
The safety of the children is very important, so also is the relevance of family in the lives of children. Everyone should know this and find a balance to protecting our children while keeping families united in happiness. I think the whole thing still goes back to people who decide to bring children into the world at their own axcord.
