Real Love, Bad Plot, Funny Chaos In A K-Movies Binge: Review
There are days when I just want to unplug from series and binge-watch movies to save time too I guess. Recently, I found myself searching for Korean movies and ended up seeing three: "Sweet & Sour", "Someone You Loved", and "Pretty Crazy". Each one gave me a very different experience but not all of them were enjoyable.
None of them were recommended to me, I had my reasons to see each of them and it was mainly because of the actors that played characters in the stories. I bet you're yet to see "Pretty Crazy", the recent release that had our popular "King The Land" female lead (Yoona) in it. I was more excited to see her in this movie.
To keep this review as short as possible, I'll go into each of the movie with just my thoughts and reasons you should check them out, maybe not.
Sweet And Sour (2021)

"Sweet & Sour" was the first movie I watched, and it immediately pulled me in especially with the huge figure actor who falls for his nurse at first care lol. The story revolves around Jang Hyuk (played by Jang Ki-yong), Da-eun (Chae Soo-bin), and Bo-young (Krystal Jung). At first, everything felt warm and hopeful. Jang Hyuk and Da-eun start as a couple deeply in love, trying to survive long distance romance and work stress.
What stood out to me was how I could relate to the small misunderstandings that slowly turned into emotional distance. Nothing dramatic happened at once, but little compromises, silence, and selfish choices piled up. The twist in this story was quite unexpected but made a lot of sense. A little hint here, Da-eun stayed in love with the boy she fell for but he became a man.
Someone You Loved (2023)

Next was "Someone You Loved", and I’ll be very honest here, I did not enjoy this one. The main characters didn’t connect with me at all, and the storyline felt dragged and unnecessarily complicated. Some scenes felt repetitive, and I kept waiting for the story to get better, but it never really did for me. By the time it ended, I felt like I had wasted my time. It was only nice to see Jung Eun-chae being more girly lol. Personally, I won’t recommend this movie, the plot is boring.
Pretty Crazy (2025)

Finally, I watched "Pretty Crazy" and this one was a refreshing change. The movie follows a struggling writer who ends up living next to a woman with severe anger issues at midnight, and their interactions are chaotic from the start. The main characters constantly clash, and that’s where most of the humor comes from. One funny moment that stuck with me was how simple situations would suddenly escalate into full-blown shouting matches or awkward encounters.
What made Pretty Crazy enjoyable was the main characters Lim Yoon-ah (her crazy acts were on point and so funny) and Ahn Bo-hyun (his surprise but innocent face to her acts were nice to watch). The characters were flawed, loud, and dramatic, but in a way that made you laugh instead of feel stressed. Even the tense moments (why she was crazy) were balanced with humor.
In the end, this binge-watch session was a mix of emotions. Sweet & Sour left me thinking deeply about relationships and choices. Someone You Loved tested my patience and reminded me that not every movie is for everyone. And Pretty Crazy gave me the laughs I didn’t know I needed. My favourite? Sweet & Sour definitely take the spot for it's realism and unexpected twists. So tell me, which would you see first? Of course, one is out.
