Organ Trade: Moral Disaster Or Practical Solution?

One of the many things the developing world, especially in technology is, more options to fight for life or give up life. Now, there are more ways to save lives compared to ages ago and it's same for trying to take a life, even suicide is made easy if there is anyone interested. Technology is great and all but sadly, there are the down sides of it.

One of the many ways to save a life is what today's prompt is about, organ donation. It's no news that countless people have been saved by their families or relatives or friends who care about them by donating organs that can be donated, while many afford it by buying these organs from people who just want to help out.

And one of the many ways to take a life or fasten the death of another is still the same organ donation. Aside the ones done with consent, it's sad that there are those who are into the business of selling organs even to the extent of taking these organs without consents leading to death or serious complications for the victims.

Organ donation-selling has saved so many lives and has also ended a lot of lives. I know of a husband who donated one of his kidneys to his wife when she was at the verge of death, the two were alright after the surgery until the husband began to experience kidney failure and died from it as he couldn't find a donor. It was a sad period.

The saddest part was, the woman have been treating different illnesses that the kidney plays a part in since his death, it's almost like the whole donor thing was a waste of time and life. Well, the woman is still alive so I guess not totally. What am I trying to say, this donation thing needs serious deliberations before it should be done.

There are many things involved in donating or selling an organ, I know there is the right to our own body thing, but it should make it so easy for anyone to choose money over a part of their body. God is a wise one and knows exactly why He made some organs more than one in the body but so many people think it's for them to sell off.

Yes, it's important to save lives especially when it depends on based on compatibility but there are just too many things to consider before you decide to exercise your right over your body. Your lifestyle before the donation must be considered, I can't even imagine a smoke or drug addict going to donate one of his lungs, that's a slow suicide.

I'm sure there are rules against such people donating though but it doesn't only apply to them, so many have bad lifestyles that will affect them more badly if they should give away one out of the two or three organs they have. We prioritise saving lives, we also need to care for ourselves and be mindful of how we use our body rights.
