One Top K-Actor, 3 Top Most Popular K-Drama: K-Content Review
The Korean movie industry has no doubt brought so much entertainment to the world today and we owe it to the writers, directors, producers and the actors who put in all their effort to make sure of that. K-contents can not be discussed anywhere and great actors are not mentioned.
I never skip short clips revealing top actors, actresses and even producers of Korean drama and movies. They help me pick the best kind of Korean series to see and I get to appreciate their works more. I've been watching Korean drama for over 9 years, I think and watch list keep growing.
There are so many Korean actors that have succeeded in bringing the most entertainment out of their acting skills, bringing more viewers to the world of kdrama and keeping the love for Korean drama alive. Out of those many, we have our top actors but for me, this particular actor is yet to be surpassed in many areas he's good in.
The Actor - Lee Min Ho
Lee Minho is one of South Korea's most influential artists. He has starred in the top Korean dramas that are so popular internationally. Minho is an actor, producer, and creative director. With a combined 95 million social media followers on Instagram, he's one of the most followed K-Actor and as a follower, it is because his acting skills are top notch especially in romance and action. And do not skip his signature walking style, so iconic lol.
He has played main roles in so many kdrama that have made it to the top but I'll be focusing on these top 3 starting from the best that I think he has starred in. It wasn't a surprise when I looked it up and it turns out these three are also a top for many others. So let's get into my review of them.
1. The King: Eternal Monarch
This is not his first drama but it's the best I've seen him in. He starred as an emperor, a king with so much power who travels to a parallel world through a mysterious portal. His aura and charisma in this role was so giving. Perfectly fit for the role.
Year - 2020. Episodes No. - 16. Genres - Fantasy, Mystery, Romance. Other main cast - Kim Go-eun, Woo Do-Hwan. Director - Baek Sang-Hoon.
It's never an easy feat to pull off unreal stories and keep viewers watching till the end but this series did it. "The King: Eternal Monarch" was a very interesting one to see that I actually plan to rewatch it again soon. If any one is a fan of the actor, Minho, this is a must watch. Additional love for the series is Kim Go-eun from "Goblin" who starred as the female lead and Woo Do-Hwan.
2. Legend Of The Blue Sea
You want to have a good laugh while having a good watch on our versatile actor, Minho? This is the best series for you. In this one, he is a swindler but one with connection to the past and is being followed around by a mermaid.
Year - 2017. Episodes No. - 16. Genre - Comedy, Romance. Other main cast - Jun Ji-Hyun and Lee Hee-joon. Director - Jin Hyuk. Writer - Park Ji-eun.
Another unreal story but succeeded in making it's viewers keep a great imagination of what it looks. I think one of the reasons I enjoyed this more was because I saw a low budget mermaid series before it, lol. The comedy in this series were so good but we will owe that to the female lead, Jun Ji-Hyun who played as the mermaid. The chemistry between both leads was convincing.
3. Boys Over Flowers
Minho plays the leader of the top 1 students in a top school, arrogant but rich, falls in love with a poor girl. Through bullying, jealousy and self proving, he shows viewers so many romantic sides in this story like the pro he is.
Year - 2009. Episode No. - 24. Genres - Romance, Comedy. Other main cast - Ku Hye-Sun, Kim Hyun-joong, Kim Bum. Director - Gi-Sang Jeon.
This is the drama that recruited more viewers to the world of Korean series, I can say people know Minho more as Gu Jun-Pyo than his actual name because of this series and the traffic it caused especially in my country when it was released. It wasn't my first Korean series but it was my first best and most favourite storyline to many more.
Like I said, there are many top actors and many kdrama that have made it to the top, even recent releases. But it's an honour to remind us of this actor that have won our hearts, played great roles in romance, action and mystery series and movies. Looking forward to see his most recent movie release - Omniscient Reader: The Prophet.
