Intentional Charity: Ensuring My Donations Make A Real Impact
"Charity begins at home", be good to others", so many of us had to learn these words in one way or the other and I did learn it from different people and many situations. What wasn't really taught was the "How Tos" but somehow, we learn it and decide to do good works in our own way.
It's a shame that some people are yet to see the greatness in giving, thinking they will only become poor or in need if they give. It's even a bigger shame that some who decide to give, try to do it in public places or in front of a camera to gain applause or praises. Giving is a humile deed.

I'll say giving is one of the most intentional thing about love, any love that is profess. You say you love your neighbours, this is a definite way to show it. No, you don't have to give money to show love and we do know if a neighbour is in need of money, advice or a random "showing up".
I've had many opportunities to do a good deed, whether directly or indirectly but I've honestly never thought deeply to know if my indirect helps got to those I intended them for. It's really sad that these organisations created to alleviate poverty or raise children are being compromised.
There is almost nowhere money is, that there are no greedy persons. I've heard of people who stopped helping because they helped the greedy types and they found out, it's really sad but that shouldn't and hasn't stopped me from doing what I need to do. Instead, I figured out a better way.
Since I can't be everywhere to help people even if I want to, I put in the charity energy to those around me. As much as we want to be very intentional with our giving, showing up with our gifts is what would make it count and it won't be for the greedy. It doesn't totally rule it out though.

One time, I needed to make a donation to a building even though it wasn't much, I asked more about it and to see if the building was a real and ongoing process before I made the transactions. I don't have to ask directly, there are people who know people or things, I'd use them.
Another time I wanted to be of help to a family, I thought it better to put the money into buying the items myself and taking it to them on my visit. It actually saved them the stress of going about the market and having more things they wouldn't have bought themselves, they thanked me for it.
Thinking back now, I've never really had to donate to a source I'm not sure if it will get to those intended but I'm pretty sure I may have missed one or two as it's an evil world we live, sadly. In any case, I don't see it as a reason to stop giving or providing good deeds wherever I can as I go.
I think the sure bet to know your donations or charity works gets to those intended is in action giving, maybe volunteering in helping real life people or visiting orphanages or organisations yourself to make the donations but it doesn't totally rule out the fact about the greedy people.

Yes oo, Merit. I don’t think we can stop some people from being greedy when it comes to money. Money brings out the character of someone, no matter how hard they try to hide it. But it doesn’t stop us from doing the good we felt led to do.
You can even gift it yourself by taking it to orphanage home like you said, or giving it to the beggars on street. There are people who need help beside us.
I will go with on the part about volunteering physically for this kind of stuff , yes we can't be everywhere at same time. But the ones we can do , one just has to be intentional about it
Hello @merit.ahama
You are right, true charity does not happen in photography, it happens from the heart. Therein lies your honesty. I have written my post asking you to help the local people directly so that your help reaches those who need it. Real charity depends on your intention, if you pretend then it is of no use.
Most at time I prefer to be a part of the process but I can’t always make time, so I give and trust that it reaches the right parties. After all, I’ve done my part.
