Go Slow, Cravings, Night Views: Blog From A Travel

I had just traveled back from the state I'm serving my country, right now I'm home with mum and it's been all relaxing and worry free for me to some extent. I had been looking forward to this week that I'll be free of duties and just relax at home but I never really looked forward to the process of getting here (the travelling experience).

Well, it was a must I have to travel to get home so I got prepared and sadly, I started my journey late in the evening. It wasn't an issue since I was travelling home, not to a strange place. But it became an issue when the journey had gone almost half.

At first, the journey was amazing as I had my phone with me, plugged my earphone to listen to music. It was supposed to be a 3 hour journey so I ate little before setting out and I had bought stuffs to take to mum. We got to a road that was blocked so vehicles had to go slowly for them to pass successfully, we spent over an hour until it got our turn finally.

I had concluded I would get home late so I just relaxed myself and started watching some kdrama series I had on my phone. I wasn't close to the window to be scared of loss (if you know you know) and I was enjoying the series until I got a tap on my back. A fellow passenger wanted the series I was seeing and we connected to share.

Trust me, the go slow felt like a forever when we were waiting. Some food sellers didn't stop pestering our vehicle asking us to buy something to eat because the wait was going to be long. I had cravings for groundnut (any kind) but surprisingly, none of the many sellers had it.

I thought of going for an alternative (fried unripe plantain) but somehow my cravings didn't let me, I just kept looking past the sellers trying to find that one seller who had what I needed. Well, we started moving fast and I just had to bear with my cravings and focus on getting home.

An hour to get home, it was already night but as it's a first time I had travelled to this place at night, I was amazed by how beautiful the night view was. There were cool street lights and everywhere was still as bustling as it was during the day like night has yet to happen.

I finally got home and you see that animated picture? It's almost close to how I was looking and feeling when I got home, tired and relieved as if I had been working all day. I could tell how even more relieved mum was when she saw me, I was welcomed with a nice meal and after that, I got my cravings.

Mum had a huge bottle of groundnut at home, I had to hold myself back not to eat half of it lol. It's been almost three days since my last travel and I don't feel the fatigue from it anymore but from the memory, I wish I had started out much earlier and quenched my taste for the cravings I had but in all, it wasn't an all bad experience and it was successful.

When traveling long distances for hours, it is very frustrating to be stuck in unmoving traffic. It makes the already long journey too unbearable.

Lol I guess the kind of travel we would love is on private car or airplane 😅 not this Nigerian public transport kind of travel.

Lol I thought the same, but she's usually the type that loves having Groundnut at home 😅

Go slows are the worst, they are part of the reasons why I won’t want to travel to some states.

It’s a good thing mum had what you’ve been craving for.

And for my cravings, I do have to walk around a mile. I Walk because I don't want to get addicted to it, hence because of the distance I only visit the shop twice or thrice a month.

Lol, I burst out laughing when I saw the second picture😅😅 Did you really look like that?
I can imagine though, it gets exhausting waiting in a long line of traffic, especially under the sun, then the smells of random people and things.

Thankfully you got home safe and had your bottle groundnut😂. But Merit, who craves groundnut?😅😅

I definitely wasn't look fresh and clean as I was when I started the journey 🤣 so maybe!

My dear, very weird craving or maybe it's because I saw someone having it before I started the journey. Longer throat craving 😂

I really hate traffic especially when you’re traveling on a long journey. If I was just going for my house to town I would have just alighted and walked cos it’s so frustrating.😂

I thought these food vendors were only in Ghana.

When you hit a go slow, you will definitely start asking questions like why you even embarked on the journey.

This is one of the things that annoys me when traveling. The go slow, sometimes it takes hours before you get to your destination. The worse of it all is when you have to worry about thieves attacking your vehicle.
Thanks for sharing

Yeah, it happens a lot so we get scared in situations like that.

You are enjoying na. You traveled inside go slow. Just imagine you are traveling that kind of trip with your boyfriend or husband and then you rest you head on his shoulders and then lock hands together. 😆. You want to hear more?? Be playing.

I was just laughing at myself after I had read your post.
I could remember when I was serving the father too; I usually left home very early so that I could get to my place of primary assignment early before night.
On this blessed day, I left my PPA very early, and I got to Ibadan on time and I was supposed to go and enter the motor that is going to my town but I refuse, instead I took my phone to reach out to some people that I want to come and play with them for few hours.
I love traveling at night very much, because I usually love to surprise people when I get home. They'll see me in the morning and be amazed with different questions like: when did you come back? Etc.
If you don't have mind, don't travel in the night please.

I just kept looking past the sellers trying to find that one seller who had what I needed.

I can relate to this situation 😅😅 and I would feel disappointed not to see what I wanted at that moment, only for me to endure my cravings till I drop down from the bus.

Travelling can be frustrating when a journey that is supposed to last 3 hours turn to 5 hours or even more due to constant waiting for passengers who, either want to urinate, buy something or alight. So annoying. It is why I prefer a straight bus to our destination and not one that will keep stopping every minute.
