Furthering Education - Academics Over Skills

I thought this topic would be the easiest for me to write on since I've been to school and I'm very much aware of how far I've come even though not sure how far I will go. But some how, it took me this long to start writing on the topic. Well, it's just another way to say this topic is a beautiful one and it's a reminder of my dream as regards to schooling.

It's no news that education is the key but it's always a news, whether good or bad, the kind of key every education holds. Because of that uncertainty, people delve into the world of skills while they go about their academics. It is a balance that pays better than relying on one side.

As for me, I can't say I am very skillful but I don't rely totally on my academics when I think about a big future with financial stability. I'm a big supporter of "Education" in whatever form but most importantly, the one achieved from the four walls of school or institute.

With that in mind, here are my responses to the questions in the topic and my Education plans.

Just to be clear, I've kinda been holding back on what I really want in my dreams as a student especially after experiencing the few stages I've gone past. Being a student has taught me more on my dreams to be successful and also gave me the options to see learning skills as another way to conquer the fears of not having a secured future for oneself.

So this is just me reminding myself as I respond to the questions.

At what level of education are you currently?

It's been more than a year since I graduated as a BSc holder in Microbiology. It wasn't the course I wanted to study but different situations led to another and I ended up studying a course I need very little about. In the end, it became a course I was proud of studying as I learnt new and beautiful things about it. Luckily for me, I didn't spend my three years wasting away but instead gave enough focus on my studies and got better at my writing while I was still in school.

Today, I'm a Microbiology graduates with a very good result, awaiting to serve my country and head for a greater cause.

If you had the opportunity, would you go any further and what field?

Yes, I will but there is a condition. I had actually thought of not furthering at all since it isn't the course I wanted but coming this far with a course I never wanted, I want to explore Microbiology even more and so, I'll grab any opportunity to study further. On the condition that, I'll further my studies outside my country for a much advanced learning in the course.

What I went through bagging a BSc in a Nigeria school isn't what I'd want to experience twice especially, not for me who wants to go as farther as I can in my academics.

How will that help you in your chosen career?

I'm not sure how it would help me in my career as it will depend on how I choose to use it on the long run. I wouldn't want to be an employee all my life if I can make it possible and so, my furthered education may give me the confidence I need to start up something for myself that would have a different touch from what is known here in my country and earn me higher pays than working under someone.

I also want to use the opportunity of studying abroad to have new experiences and learn new things to live a better life in my country.

Would it make any difference in your life if you choose not to do so?

Not at all, I think I'll be just fine if I am unable to further as I've been thinking more on skills to acquire and master instead of ways to go study abroad. The main aim of all the hustle and furthering education saga is to live a comfortable life (have peace of mind and money) which I believe I can achieve without furthering my education but utilizing a lot of other means to achieve my dream goals.

In any case, I'd want to further my education but if the opportunity doesn't come, I want to work on myself to achieve more goals that furthering may not even help me achieve.

That is it for my response to the Hive learners topic, what do you think? What's your own plans in education?

Microbiology is not a easy one but it's one of the most interesting one in my eyes. I love to read about the subject although it's not my favorite 😅.
Best of luck with your plan although it seems you are not too much sure what you will do next 😅. !LOL

I think furthering really just depends on you and the kind of life you would want to live. Cause this first degree will be enough to get you started on a job. But probably you might require some expertise that would be found in a higher degree

Microbiology is a good course of study. My in-law is a medical microbiologist and he is doing so well. Please do further and am sure you will enjoy it
