Creating Family Memories, One Meal At A Time

Families are one of the closest bonds we get to build in life and there are many ways to build this bond to have a beautiful family experiences and stories to tell. A family that prays together, spend time together and struggle out issues together, they stay together and their bond grows stronger.

One more way to build a family bond is eating together and that's what today's prompt is asking about. I've had a lot of experiences with eating together as a family and I'll say it's definitely a game changer for a family who have not been doing this ritual. Family memories are created.

My experience with eating together as a family is a long history right from when I understood eating with people, my childhood. My dad was so right to make it a part of us growing up, even to the point that I struggled to eat to my fill when I started to live alone in my first university days.

As a person and a cook, I don't enjoy eating even though I want get hungry as I do find it tiring especially when it's a meal I don't enjoy so much. One of such meals are the ones I prepare myself, I eat well and fine when it's made by another and I've been trying to change this habit for a while.

I also love to watch people eat my food or their own food, it wakes the appetite in me to want to eat to my fill. I also get to learn better ways to eat my meals, I learnt some good eating habits from watching my mum while she eats, it's been very helpful for me to eat to my fill and keep etiquette.

I see it as very normal to eat with people because of my home background, we eat almost everything together every time except on days time and work wasn't favourable for all of us. My dad rarely eats with us now, unlike before when we have to wait for him for us to eat together.

I remember my year during service when I had to live with a roommate and we were eating together, I suggested it and she accepted. Others were surprised to know we eat together, they thought it was very weird and unexpected but up till now, I still didn't get why they were like that.

Eating together has proven to boost most of the relationships I've had from childhood. Even when I had to live with my aunts at different times, we all ate together so my life has always been that way that I think it's a tradition that may never end. I also plan to make my kids enjoy eating together.

From my experiences, eating together brings about a more connected chats among the individuals, we get to find out about things we might not have known if we all ate separately, there is also the laughter and gists that we get to enjoy while we eat not minding table manners lol.

All these are memories made together, one meal at a time. I can share many memories I had with my family from just family meal time, it's the beauty of sharing and focusing on each other through the meal. Sadly, these moments are being replaced slowly with online connections and work that is keeping people busy and away.

It's fine in situations like that but take advantage of whenever you get the chance.

Haha even I am salivating over the meals, it's been a while I had them.

It is a good culture you have grown into, I believe that eating together truly brings people together, as a saying goes, "Food na my peace of mind" When one is eating, there tends to be peace in the surroundings, and it helps foster connections. I have come to the understanding of this, and I have promised myself to start that tradition with my family in the near future.

Family isn't just about blood relations so it's not bad when we cultivate the habit of eating together with our friends
