A Traveller's Journal: Recent And Upcoming Adventures
I think I'm more of a lover for travelling than not because of how much I've had to travel in my years of being the adult I am. I could count the number of times I travelled when I was little but that changed when I got admission to a pre-degree programme and I had to leave home for so many and different locations at different time.
Travelling can be both fun and stressful for me depending on how it went or where my destination is, I've come to understand myself to enjoy however a journey goes if the destination is going to be fun and I'd be so tired even before a journey begins if I'm not excited about where I'm going, coupled with how bad Nigerian roads are.
The most recent trip I went on, was visiting my grandma at my mum's hometown, Orogun in Delta state. It was a journey after almost ten years past the last time I visited there but it wasn't really exciting while I was on my way there, I'll share why. Although I've seen grandma but it's been long since I visited to see her there.
Since my last trip from Imo state, where I served my country for a year, I fell seriously sick and one of the resolutions to get me healed was going to stay with grandma and she would help with the treatment while taking care of me. If not that I was sick and in pain through out the journey there, it would have been an exciting one for me.
Well, the focus for my most recent trip is more on when I got better and was returning from grandma's. It was a very funny trip and scary at the same time. So here is what happened, I stayed at the park for a long while after grandma saw me off, we were waiting for just one more passenger before we kick off and a man came.
Out of relief that we were finally leaving the park, I didn't notice anything off with the man and I guess the other passengers didn't too. We were in a tricycle (Keke) and he was sitting in front with the rider. Half way into the journey was smooth with no problems until the man in front started dozing off and threatening to fall down.
It turns out he had been drinking all morning before he boarded the vehicle and was drunk, couldn't hold back from sleeping even after all the begging from the rider. The rest of us even started begging him to stay awake as none of us could let him sit at the back so he could sleep and not fall down, he wasn't looking so tidy too.
Well, that short journey became longer for us because of fear and how tense it got as the other passengers tried to keep him awake by having a quarrel with him. I got home safely at last but I felt so stressed and had to deal with headache because of how the trip went. My reason for the trip was very successful and that is what counts.
My next or upcoming trip plan is a vacation outing with my friends. Honestly, there's no grand plan yet and somehow I don't see it happening anytime soon but it's one of the things I need to check off my list before I settle down for my next big plan or get married. I doubt I'll have that much freedom later if I don't do it now.
My friends are both having their lives but I would be so excited to see them again after over three years since we last saw each other. There are so much I want to do with them and they are all fun and lots of catching up, relaxing and even going crazy for some time together. Doing all the things we couldn't do back when we were still in school.
Any trip to family, friends and loved ones, I'm always excited about it. The reasons for them may differ but for someone who loves to travel and experience adventures, I'm looking forward to all my future trips, even the unknown ones yet.

Travelling, most times could be fun or stressful to me, too depending on the situation of things but it's always a common thing for me to get tired after a trip.
Lol soon ko
Amen to that 🤧
That's true for many of us, travelling especially in Nigeria is always tiring.
I’m so sorry to hear you were sick. I hope you’re much better now and enjoyed your strip to your grandma’s
Thank you Nhaji, I'm much better now.
