A Slow-Burn C-Drama Worth The Break: "Mr Bad" Review

I took a short break from kdrama to see a cdrama (Chinese drama) and it wasn't bad for the break. The male lead was the only reason I decided to see this series as I had seen him in "Hidden Love" where his acting was quite realistic and convinced me to check out more Chinese drama as I usually do focus only on Korean series lol.

The main reason I'd choose not to see a cdrama is their lengthy episodes and it would be easier to download them if the plot isn't dragged with the long episodes too because that's what I experience in the few ones I've seen. A story plot gets boring at some point with mix of fun scenes and somehow the episode is getting stretched.

"Mr Bad" is a 24 episode rom-com chinese series released in the year 2022 starred by Zheyuan Chen, Shen Yue, Jingjing Qu and Mingjie Luo as the main characters. The series is built on a fantasy storyline that is not relatable to real life stories but has real life lessons to learn as viewers navigate the lives of the main characters.

Nan Xing, A "one story" writer who on her spare time fights crime alongside the police, almost a tomboy, not attractive as a lady makes a wish and accidentally summons the villain of her own book. Xiao Wudi, the villain is a clever, cunny and narcissistic person who resorted to threats and blackmailed Xing into living next door with her.

About the wish: I think it was so unrealistic but I get it when I remember it's just a fantasy story. Nan Xing, out of frustration watching others pair up in love, she wishes that she could experience a unforgettable love. Immediately, she lost her ring (on a necklace) into the pool she was standing close to. Then she fell in to retrieve it.

About the villain: A small pool became a big ocean and somehow Nan Xing saw a drowning man in a native attire, she saves him but kept thinking everything was a dream even when he came to her aid after she summoned him unknowingly. The villain, Xiao Wudi sure took every chance to be bad to her as the title says.

About the second couple: I can't express enough how much I love the female character of the second couple and how she carried herself until the end of the story. I enjoyed watching their feelings grow for each other so slowly only for us to be taken back to their past that they've always loved each other, the guy is super slow though.

About the main couple: Like I said, the episodes are long and so is the storyline being slow and long. But that made their love stories more of slow burn than just a rush through. How the "Mr bad" guy begins to fall for Nan Xing while he was trying to find a match for her so he could return, was beautiful to see. And she slowly realizes too.
