A Recipe For Romance: "Tastefully Yours" Review

I think I'm loving the food focused series, the last two I've seen were amazing for me. I'll review the second one I saw another time but this one first, I'm actually glad I saw this one first because it was like I transitioned from the least to the best. I decided to see this series cause of the male lead and YouTube clip of a scene I saw, nothing else.

The title is quite catchy too but nothing special until you see the series. I had high expectations for the male lead as I've only seen him play as a supporting character in series and thankfully, I want to see more of him even after this series. That says a lot about his versatile acting, I still remember his role in the movie "Love Reset".

"Tastefully Yours" is a 2025 rom-com Korean series starring Kang Ha-neul and Go Min-si, Kim Shin-rock and Bae Na-Ra as supporting characters came as a sweet surprise for me, I became a fan of theirs after the very first series I saw them in, Undercover High School and Weak Hero Class 2. They had opposite roles in this one.

The storyline goes like... The heir to a food company that has the top restaurant meets a rural chef who's passionate about her food and ingredients. Both started off on a wrong foot but develop feelings for each other as they run a small eatery together in Jeonju. With competitions to prepare for, restaurants to steal recipes from and a dark past, both grew closer.

The comedy, the tension during the food competition, the surprise family get together with a meal, all these makes this series worth seeing.

I wanted to see more of their dating era but that was cut short because of other events that took place, revealing past incidents that were buried. It was like I traveled back to When The Phone Rings" when I saw Yoo Yeon-seok, a chef who was once in a relationship with Yeon-Joo, the rural chef who is more than she seemed at first.

It's a short series and very light for a weekend watch, I had a good time because of the comedy from the beginning. It's a rom-com but honestly, the romance side of it wasn't portrayed enough to me. There was more comedy than romance which isn't so bad as I enjoy good comedy series. I think the female lead was too dull for romance.

More scenes showing Yeon-Joo time in France as a chef would have been a nice addition but that wasn't the focus of the story as it's all about her time growing her own eatery in a local area. As the male lead, he definitely stole the whole show in this story, from his serious looks to comedic and romantic side as he fell in love with the chef, all were a nice watch and I'll love to recommend with a delicious rating of 7.5/10 lol.

With the way you explain little details about this movie, it's like the movie is interesting. I just don't know why but I prefer watching K-drama village movies than the city one.

Oh it's totally okay, those ones are historical for a reason. I enjoy them a lot too.

I'm very intrigued that you saw it as the lead actor, and that it met your high expectations after seeing him in supporting roles. It's a great sign when an actor demonstrates such versatility! I completely understand your point about romance. Sometimes in K-dramas, when there is a lot of background plot (business, dark past, revenge), the slow burn or "dating" phase is shortened or feels less developed.

The last plot with Yoo Yeon-seok as the chef who was her ex reminds me of those twists that take you out of the romantic bubble and put you into the deepest drama.

from his serious looks to comedic and romantic side

That's one of the things I really admire about Kang Ha-neul's acting...like the first time I watched him in Scarlet Heart Ryeo convinced me how good he is in portraying serious characters. I even dislike him because of his role in that series, but when I saw him again in Midnight Runners and recently in what you mentioned, Love Reset, I was amazed at how he can seamlessly change his demeanor. I didn't expect that he could do comedies so naturally, like looks do really fool because at first impression his face seemed to scream that he's a serious guy, but whenever he shows that goofy smile and I can't help but really laugh out loud.

Anyway, I haven't encountered this series yet. Maybe it's new or perhaps underrated...but either ways, I'll still try checking it out since Kang Ha-neul's there haha (just like my fondness with shows that also has Lee Joon-gi lol)

I hope you do check out the titles I've mentioned because his acting there is also phenomenal! And yes, Lee Joon-gi's also an amazing one, I really like him ever since he played Wang So in Scarlet Heart Ryeo (≧∇≦)ノ

Seems like I have seen a Chinese drama like that and after the 7.5 rating I think I won't watch the drama. And I have a lot of dramas in my list to watch.
