i'm afraid dostoevsky ruined literature for me. nothing i've read after his works has come close to his level of writing, and at this point i would have to agree to whenever someone says he has the best novels ever written in literary history. this man must've pushed himself to the limits of his psyche to be able to write something so humanly compelling as he does in his books. it's mind boggling.
