A Belgian Escape: Discovering the Magic of Landal Parc "Mooi Zutendaal"

If you are seeking for a place to simply relax and enjoy the outdoors, you should keep reading since Landal Parc Mooi Zutendaal has everything!

I recently returned from a wonderful getaway to the Belgian countryside.

Our family would have fit in a small 12-person house for our base of operations; let me tell you, the park and surrounding region is a tranquil paradise with many of activities still.

Our Temporary Home Away From Home: Bungalow Bliss


First, let us consider the bungalow itself.

Imagine a large and well-appointed refuge tucked among the trees.

Two completely working kitchens—some more successful than others—became the center of our culinary mornings; we had plenty of space for everyone to stretch out; and we loved the outdoor terraces where we could have many evening chats and a glass of wine.

Allow me to tour this lovely bungalow for you.

You find a clear, airy living space as soon as you enter.

Surrounding a coffee table, cozy sofas and armchairs call for a board game marathon.

Big windows allow lots of natural light and provide views of the surrounding vegetation.

To the left you will discover the dining area with a big table that would have easily fit our entire family for meals and, indeed, those legendary board game battles I mentioned!

With six bedrooms, this large home guaranteed everyone had their place to retreat to.

We also enjoyed two bathrooms; hence, the morning rush hour was not necessary.

And there was even a sauna featuring a shower for maximum relaxation.

Surprisingly well-stocked with everything we needed, from pots and pans to silverware, the kitchen—or should I say kitchens—left and right off the eating room was having, two dishwashers, and two refrigerators made cooking meals for a big gathering easy.

We discovered the bedrooms—a mix of doubles and twins—down the hall and upstairs—all simply but pleasantly furnished.

With two TVs, there were no debates over what to see; the big sitting area gave even more space to rest and unwind!

The best thing is that rising early on that patio with a cup of coffee and inhaling in the clean, fresh air. Perfect happiness!

Discovering Lieteberg's Natural Playground


One of the pleasures of our trip was discovering the breathtaking surrounds; Lieteberg Walking Area is a true gem.

Right next to the park, this nature reserve provides an amazing system of walking paths.

We had an amazing time exploring calm lakes, aromatic pine trees, and large natural beauty.

The scene was incredibly breathtaking, with the sound of songbirds permeating everything.

This is the best area to stretch your legs and reconnect with your environment.

Activities Galore: Adventure Awaits


"Landal Parc Mooi Zutendaal" surrounds are a swarm of activity.

Whatever your inclination—that of something a little more laid back or an adrenaline junkie—there is something for everyone.

Get ready!

  • Horseback Riding: The surrounding riding stables provided a great experience for those of us who had always imagined a canter across the countryside.

  • Mountain bike Mania: The area features some amazing mountain bike pathways.
    Trotting along meandering paths with the sun dappling the trees was very lovely.
    While I chose a slow walk, some daring members of our party rented bikes and fiercely battled the difficult terrain, returning with muddy smiles and stories of thrilling falls.

  • Mini Golf Enjoyment: A timeless holiday game, the Kattevennen mini-golf course was fantastic.
    There was friendly rivalry as we negotiated the unusual challenges, lots of applause and jeers!



  • Travel to the Stars: Visit a cosmonium.
    A little drive away, the Cosmodrome in Genk provided an amazing window into the realm of space and astronomy.
    The enormity of the universe left us in wonder at interactive exhibitions, striking displays, even a planetarium show.
    Anyone with even a passing curiosity in space has to visit this site.

  • After a day of discovery, nothing quite compares to sitting around a table for some classic board game fun.
    As we explored several games, from vintage favorites to some fresh finds, our bungalow became a battlefield of strategy and hilarity.

Taste of Local Flavors: Bij Veges


Without sampling some regional cuisine, no journey is complete.

We headed to the restaurant "Bij Veges," and it was a wonderful outing.

The menu presented a delicious range of international cuisine, and the atmosphere was friendly and pleasing.

I chose a delicious Tenderloin Carpaccio for an appetiser; Steak Belgian White-Blue for a main course; and Brésilienne Sundae to cap this fantastic dinner.


Others in the group relished delectable spareribs and fresh seafood.

The polite and attentive service made for a very fun evening.

A moment of contemplation: Lourdescave Wiemesmeer


We stopped momentarily across the street before we got to the restaurant.

We went to the calm Lourdescave in Wiemesmeer for a different tempo.

Designed by Mathijs Thijssens in 1925.

He built it to express thanks.

Holy Masses have been held here since the ceiling of St. Joseph's Church collapsed in 1976.

The environment around the grotto has only developed, beautified and expanded with more prayer space, more trees and plants, a pond area and a series of sculptures by Toon Vanmechelen.

There also were three chapels constructed.

Tucked in the forest, this quiet grotto offers a place for stillness and meditation.

Thanks in significant part to the calm surroundings and beautiful scenery, the trip was relaxing and wonderful.

Our vacation at Landal Parc Mooi Zutendaal was an amazing fusion of quality time spent together, leisure activities, and outdoor experiences.

From discovering Lieteberg's natural beauty to the exciting activities, the park, and the cosmodile cultural insights, this part of Belgium has much to offer.

And our little bungalow was the ideal basis for it all with its six bedrooms, two baths, sauna, and more.
