K-Drama Review: Vincenzo, the Lawyer of the Mafia ⚖️ [Eng/Esp]

I hope you are all doing very well. Once again, I bring you a K-drama recommendation, but compared to my last recommendations, this is not a romance drama or a story that you usually see in K-dramas. Although it retains the format of these series, it has a plot involving Italian mobsters, corruption, and dark humor.

The initial premise tells the story of Vincenzo Cassano, a Korean-Italian lawyer and consigliere for the Italian mafia. I had no idea what consigliere meant, but after seeing the context provided by the series, you understand that it refers to the advisor of a criminal organization (it sounds like any other job). To put it simply, he is the devil's advocate.

Espero estén muy muy bien. Nuevamente les traigo una recomendación de kdrama, pero en comparación con mis últimas recomendaciones, este no es un drama de romance ni una historia que usualmente se ve en los kdramas. Aunque conserva el formato de estas series, tiene una trama de mafiosos italianos, corrupción y humor negro.

La premisa inicial nos cuenta la historia de Vincenzo Cassano, un abogado coreano-italiano y consigliere de la mafia italiana. Yo no tenía idea de qué significaba ser consigliere, pero luego del propio contexto que te da la serie, entiendes que así se denomina al asesor de una organización criminal (suena como un trabajo cualquiera). Para simplificarlo en pocas palabras, es el abogado del diablo.

But our protagonist could no longer advise the devil, that is, the mafia boss he worked for died, and that's where the real story begins. Knowing practically all of his boss's secrets, he returns to Korea to search for treasure, going from advisor to the devil to treasure hunter in a single chapter.

This treasure consists of a huge amount of gold bars hidden in an unattractive building called Geumga Plaza. At first glance, it appears abandoned, but this is not the case, and to complicate matters, the building is involved with a large corporation in Korea: Babel Group, which seems to have power in everything, politically, economically, and even judicially.

Pero nuestro protagonista ya no pudo asesorar más al diablo, es decir, el jefe de la mafia para el que trabajaba murió, y es ahí donde inicia la verdadera historia. Conociendo prácticamente todos los secretos de su jefe, regresa a Corea a buscar un tesoro, pasando de asesor del diablo a buscador de tesoros en un solo capítulo.

Dicho tesoro son una enorme cantidad de lingotes de oro escondidos en un edificio poco atractivo llamado Geumga Plaza. A simple vista parece abandonado, pero no es así, y para complicar las cosas, el edificio está involucrado con una gran corporación en Corea: Babel Group, que parece tener poder en todo, político, económico y hasta judicial.

Therefore, Vincenzo teams up with Hong Cha-young, a very astute and sarcastic lawyer who, after a major setback, seeks revenge against Babel. This pair is certainly like gasoline and a big burning flame. The story takes place in the legal world, but things don't really play out according to the law. Vincenzo is not a traditional hero either; in fact, I wouldn't call him a hero at all: he is a villain who, for his own benefit, ended up punishing other villains.

Por lo tanto, Vincenzo se asocia con Hong Cha-young, una abogada muy astuta y sarcástica, que luego de un gran suceso busca venganza contra Babel. Esta pareja ciertamente es como gasolina y una gran llama ardiendo. La historia se desarrolla en el mundo legal, pero las cosas no se llevan a cabo realmente desde la legalidad. Vincenzo tampoco es un héroe tradicional; de hecho, no lo llamaría héroe: es un villano que, por sus propios beneficios, terminó castigando a otros villanos.

If you like action stories, gangsters, and morally ambiguous characters, it's definitely worth watching.It has very well-crafted scenes, with a perfect blend of tension and comedy, and moments that make you think about the fine line between good and evil.

Si te gustan las historias de acción, mafiosos y personajes moralmente grises, vale totalmente la pena verla.Tiene escenas muy bien logradas, con una mezcla perfecta entre tensión, comedia, y momentos que te hacen pensar en la delgada línea entre el bien y el mal.
