🎉Celebrating Togetherness: Kindred Hearts 🎉💖

Greetings, esteemed members of the Hive ASEAN Community! I wish you all good health and high spirits.

Yesterday, the teachers at SMK Matupang Jaya came together to celebrate the Majlis Sanjungan Budi Tautan Kasih, or the Ceremony of Kindred Hearts. Although not everyone could attend, the majority of the teachers were present to partake in this annual event marking the end of the 2023 academic season.

We commenced the festivities with a lively procession at 7:00 p.m., making our way to the Perkasa Hotel Hall to kick off the evening's celebrations. Divided into three groups according to our respective teacher's office rooms—Bilik Guru 1, Bilik Guru 2, and Bilik-bilik Khas. "Bilik Guru 1" and "Bilik Guru 2" translate to "Teacher Room 1" and "Teacher Room 2," respectively, in English. These are likely rooms designated for teachers. "Bilik-bilik Khas" translates to "Special Rooms" in English. These refer to rooms that serve a specific function or cater to particular needs, such as examination management rooms, counseling rooms, and others.

Following the parade, it was time for dinner. The spread before us included delectable dishes such as chicken curry, mustard greens, soy sauce-cooked meat, fried fish fillet with sauce, and mixed fried eggplant with white pepper. Despite my already full stomach, I managed to indulge in two rounds of plates—the food was simply too delicious to resist, especially the curry and meat. Additionally, we were treated to corn soup, fresh watermelon, and cakes.

Next on the agenda was the gift exchange event, where teachers and staff brought gifts to exchange with one another upon drawing names from a box. While the minimum set price for the exchange was RM50, I opted to purchase a vacuum cleaner worth RM120, adhering to my personal principle of selecting gifts I would love to receive. It was heartening to see my gift being eagerly sought after by the teachers.

As we awaited the conclusion of the gift exchange event, I savored six cups of zero-sugar coffee, thoroughly enjoying its exquisite taste. The ceremony also featured speeches from the principal, expressing gratitude for the smooth coordination of the event, and Cikgu Jaffry, bidding farewell as he prepared to transfer to another school—a poignant moment of reflection on his journey as a teacher.

Additionally, there was a lucky draw prize, with prizes generously provided by the teachers. I had the pleasure of gifting a water flask and a spotlight to two lucky recipients, and in return, I received bathroom essentials—a thoughtful and practical gift.

The event also featured performances from the three groups, showcasing superb cooperation despite limited rehearsal time. Though our routines didn't always go as planned, the joy and laughter shared during our performances were what truly mattered.

As the clock approached 11 p.m. and the mist descended upon the roads, I embarked on the journey home feeling weary. Despite the fatigue, I am thankful to have safely arrived home, holding onto the cherished memories of a wonderful evening brimming with camaraderie and joyous celebration.
