The PR That Wouldn’t Die

I’ve had this one branch—this one PR—I’ve been trying to get approved for what feels like an eternity.

You see, since my brother is the real developer, he approves every pull request I make for Snapie. And he’s a real stickler about it.

To be fair, most of that is probably due to my own shortcomings, but I might have just broken a personal record for the number of revisions a single PR can endure.

My brother, in his quest to make Snapie something he himself can be proud of, doesn’t let anything slide. Not a corner. Not a shortcut. Not a “yeah, that’s probably fine.”

Today, he casually mentioned that he’s figured out how to use AI to help him review my submissions. Not just to scan them—but to generate actual documents outlining potential issues and areas of improvement. Full-on papers. Essays, even. After his own revisions, of course.

And I couldn’t help but wonder…

Is this normal?

Does anyone else submit a pull request and get handed what feels like a ten-page homework assignment in return? Somehow, I suspect I might be standing alone on that podium—but that’s okay. Character building, right?

Since I was in desperate need of a win (and let’s be honest, we all need those), I decided to compile the Audio Snaps feature tonight and submit it to open testing.

This isn’t to say it’s 100% finished. It’s more that it’s been way too long since the day @acidyo suggested the idea, and the day I finally pushed it live on @snapie mobile. At some point, progress beats perfection—especially when real humans are waiting to play with the thing.

And speaking of wins, I’ll share this much.

The recent uptick in Snapie downloads has given me more reasons to smile than I’ve had in a while. As of writing this little blog entry, the community is holding strong in first place when it comes to activity.

I’d like to think we’re doing our part—keeping people here, engaged, having fun, and building something together. Whether it ends up being small or big almost feels secondary to the fact that it’s alive.

It’s getting late over here, and I’m about ready to call it a night. But it felt right to close out a Sunday with a token, or two, of gratitude.
