How scary is it to bend guitar sides?
Making guitars sure seems like one of those "impossible" skills to learn, but it truly isn't. Like most things in life, it's mostly about patience and practice.
My Older brother is hesitant to try to build an acoustic himself, but he's built plenty of solid body electrics for years. So, in a way, this video is for people like him, who think it's akin to dark magic, impossible for the mortal man.

There is a bit of magic about acoustic instruments as they have to be quite delicate to sound good and you are shaping a natural material that will vary.
My Taylor has laminated sides as it's a cheaper model. The top is solid.
I suspect the tone of an acoustic guitar is 90% the top. I realize that percentage may seem arbitrary, but given the fact that I've heard amazing sounding guitars whose top was the only real wood on them, I think I'm pretty close to being right.
I would expect the top makes most of the sound and the sides won't vibrate much. Of course there's an element of snobbery about what a guitar is made of. Mine is good enough for me.
