He just won

I try not to talk too much about politics these days, mainly because there is nothing positive to share about them, and In a way I'm trying to be the happiest I can be, but not typing something on this blog of mine about this, seems impossible at this point.

Those who know a bit about me, know that I'm an expat these days. There was no way for my wife and I to stay in the US with the cost of living being straight out ridiculous, and truthfully leaving has been a blessing in my life. But... staying informed on all US matters is not a hard task, and seeing this race from a distance has led me to conclude that democracy, as a concept, is simply broken.

Democracy is in practice not at all what it's supposed to be. A government for the people seems like such an alien concept that I can't help but to laugh a bit when I hear a politician pretend to care.

In many ways I thought to myself the chances of either candidate winning were split in half up until yesterday. Both way past their prime, and both really serving mostly themselves at the end of the day.

It was a toss up... that was until the picture.

history

This will be a picture that will be taught about in schools for generations, and this assassination attempt is exactly what tilted the scales in Trump's favor.

The disgusting rhetoric from a divided country is breeding violence, intolerance, hatred and xenophobia. What transpired yesterday is the first of a chain of destructive events in the chaotic novel we call American Politics.

And... Joe... he can't compete with this... not anymore.

Whoever wins... I hope they turn this shit around, because I have just the hardest of times trying to find silver linings these days.

I fucking hope he doesn't win as that will be bad for the US and the world. The Democrats need a better candidate that people can believe in as a real alternative. I still wouldn't wish Trump dead as violence is not the answer. I want him to lose and know he lost.

Nothing is impossible when it comes to politics. It's not like those who despise him will change their votes. He's not 'touched by god', he's just very lucky, and still a dangerous maniac.

Polls are already showing that the goodwill gained is going away because the republicans immediately started blaming Biden himself for planning and encouraging the assassination attempt. Trumps numbers went up, but are going back down now. One republican pollster admitted that people are just tired of Trumps bullying and lying, so he gains nothing from this from moderates. The only result is that his fanatic supporters are becoming.. well, more fanatic.

One side hates his guts, the other side worships him. The middle is disgusted with both candidates and is trying to wrestle with do they want il duce part 2 or an even more senile Ronnie part 2, and this attempt does nothing to sway the middle after how he and the republicans are responding to it. He still might win, I don't know, but this event didn't do it.
