Blogging was the bait, HBD Is the Hook (Eng/Esp)

When this Web3 experiment of ours started, it was all about the blogging. The idea was that people from all over the world would flock here, abandon their web2 existence, and reclaim their data along the way. Of course, it kind of happened, but only kind of.
Lots of growing pains, as expected. Lots of drama, lots of challenges we barely overcame, but yet, here we are, and we are not going anywhere, at least not any time soon. I am, though, of the idea that if this place is going to thrive, we all need to get on the same page and stop with the rigid notions that keep us stuck in 2017 even today.
Hive is not about blogging. It has blogging, which is different. I submit to you that blogging is no longer how we make it. The hyperfocus on content robs us of the opportunity to incorporate massive swaths of the world. Why? Because the world is not full of bloggers. The world is not full of content creators. The world is as dynamic and diverse as you can possibly imagine, and we need to be able to be friendly to as many people as possible.
Hive needs to be about actions. People being rewarded for different actions. But among those actions, there's one that stands out above all. The obvious answer to me is commerce. Why? Because it doesn't really matter who you are or where you live, you're either selling something or buying something. Projects like @distriator open a world of possibilities for us, a world that, not long ago, I couldn't have imagined.
You see, everything about economic systems has everything to do with incentives. This is what economists think about. This is what they plan for. When they decide to move a lever, they're literally thinking about how that movement will change the incentives on the board, how people will react to that change, and how their reactions will shape the economy at a macro level.
We can zoom in, all the way in, and talk about familiar concepts like having enough change for a cash transaction to be completed, a friction I've spoken about at length on this blog of mine. But I invite you to zoom out with me and keep in mind the common challenges the whole world faces, regardless of country or political landscape.
If Hive as a token with real utility is going to make it big, it needs to work in every context. It needs to be able to facilitate, incentivize, and proliferate, no matter where it's being used. This, of course, is easier said than done, but I submit to you that a commonality among all nations will always be reducing the cost of living. There's not a single person out there who thinks, "I don't mind life getting more expensive." Do you see where I'm going with this?
Sincerely, I think the idea of using HBD as our superpower cannot be stressed enough. I'm tempted to focus solely on HBD these days, because again, I see a potential that Hive, by itself, simply does not have in our little stable token.
But to make matters even sweeter for us, to make my argument a lot more solid, allow me to propose how pushing HBD, how promoting commerce with HBD, would in turn lift Hive to heights it's never seen before.
Blogging is extractive
I'm a blogger, so I guess I'm throwing a little dirt on myself right now, but I do this out of duty. I feel we have to have an honest conversation on this subject if we're going to make any progress.
Blogging is great, yes. I love it too. I love writing about my life, my friends, my experiences, my political rants, all of it. But all that blogging does, all my writings do, is potentially give me more tokens. That's a good thing. It's a good thing for me, of course. I've been trying to get as many tokens as possible for eight years, and I'm still working at it really hard.
But the point I'm trying to make is that me accumulating tokens doesn't make Hive go up in valuation.
We can clearly see examples of this in projects like Blurt, where there are users who've been able to accumulate insane stakes, but the valuation of that token has simply plummeted to levels no one could have imagined. Side note; I don't know how they keep the lights on, but I digress. At any rate, there's only one place where Hive gets its value, and it's not that great.
Hive keeps itself afloat only because of speculation. In other words, it's the gamblers, the degens, who keep this place alive. Every single time someone powers down and sells all their earnings to the market, there's someone willing to buy, because that someone is willing to gamble.
This may be our reality today, an ugly one at that, but it doesn't have to be the case. Not anymore. Which is why we need to see blogging through a different lens altogether. Blogging was our first attempt at token distribution, and it still is just that, but it was never meant to be a way to edify token valuation. And it still isn't.
Distriator + HBD = Paradigm shift
I realize I'm sounding like a talking head for @distriator at this point. But I promise you, I'm writing this because I feel like doing so. I'm not getting paid (as someone suggested) by "the whales" nor is this my application to the cabal. I've just been shown a different world, and I want to share it with you.
Using this tool, we are adding a system of incentives that does the exact opposite of extraction. It provides value. It gives people and businesses the ability to both grow their position on Hive while at the same time growing their position in cash. I realize that sounds crazy, but allow me to lay out for you a simple dynamic of a business that uses HBD as their payment system.
Jon, the non-blogging Hivean
So Jon finds blogging too bothersome. He feels like writing is too much work and hasn't written a single thing in months. Yeah, it's a cool idea, but he never has time to write. His friend invited him to Hive, he still has his keys, but the account just sits there deading (my wife's newest word).
One day Jon goes to @jersonsweetplace to get himself and his kid some bread. He has five dollars cash in his pocket, and he's going to get a nice little stash for the weekend — sweets, pastries, and the classics.
He walks up to Jerson, who's working his own counter today, and tells him what he wants.
Jerson, being the clever Hivean business owner that he is, suggests to Jon that he should do the purchase with his Hive account. He should pay with HBD. This would allow Jon to literally spend less money while getting the same amount of product.
Jon seems confused, but Jerson explains:
I'll sell you some HBD, Jon. You give me those 5 bucks, I'll send you 5 HBD straight to your wallet
I'll make the invoice for you to pay with those HBD
You'll then go to the Distriator app and claim your cashback by leaving a review
Seven days later, the upvotes you get on that transaction post will reduce your cost of purchasing product from me, even more.
Flabbergasted, Jon can't believe what he's hearing. He can get the same amount of product from his favorite bakery and get a great discount for it. In other words, he can effectively stretch his cash on hand?
Sign me up! says Jon.
Jerson makes the sale...
Where does that leave Jerson, our Hive entrepreneur?
Well now, Jerson has HBD back in his wallet. Why? Because Jon paid for his order with them, so they boomeranged right back to Jerson. And, this is key, Jerson has 5 dollars cash in his till.
What happened?
Where's the selling pressure there? I ask you. Where is Jerson converting all his HBD to Hive, going to Binance, and dumping it for dollars so he can buy himself a new pair of shoes?
Of course, Jerson, or any other Hivean entrepreneur, is free to do with their stake as they wish. But as you can now clearly see, by adopting this system, he can literally build a fiat backing for every single HBD token he has in his wallet.
THIS, my friends... THIS IS A SUPERPOWER!
Do I want blogging to go away?
Of course not. I just spent an hour sitting down writing this. Don't take this away from me please. But again, I'm not thinking about me. I'm not thinking about you. I'm not thinking about us silly Hiveans who write every single day. I'm talking about the rest of the world. I'm talking about the macro picture.
This is why this post of mine is an invitation to think differently from now on. We can't be people who are unwilling to adapt, more so when the writing is on the wall.
I'll end this long rant the same way I started, but I’ll add my conclusion:
Hive is not about blogging. It has blogging in it.
Hive is way more than that...

Yo te envío 5 HBD a tu cuenta.
– dice Jon.
Jerson cierra la venta...
¿Y Jerson, nuestro emprendedor Hiveano?

I like the idea behind your post. If Hive was able to break into the USA market where it would be accepted at some retailers or supermarkets or even if it was adopted as a rewards program at one of the supermarket chains it would be huge.
Having said that, I would like to point out that Token Allocation for Hive is still:
65% is evenly distributed among content creators and content curators (people who actively engage with the content through likes, comments, and shares)
15% given to HP stakers
10% to witnesses
10% is deposited into the decentralized Hive Fund, which is the network's treasury to fund community proposals
Which means that over half of Hive inflation is still aimed towards content creators and curators...
Your reply is upvoted by @topcomment; a manual curation service that rewards meaningful and engaging comments.

hey bud, thanks for this comment.
I'm very aware of this. I guess If I had to polish my post, I would say this:
My invitation is to redefine what "content" means. Maybe we should be talking about "actioneers" - people who do things other than blogging. They belong in this chunk too.
I've seen Distriator working, but still not got it straight in my head how it works. Will the reviews for rewards system scale?
I think communities have massive potential. They can work like reddit or FB groups with people posting about their favourite topic to an audience of like-minded folk. That can be short-form. This is what people already do for no reward, so why not benefit more from it? The issue is building the critical mass of users to keep it interesting. Elsewhere there are groups far bigger than the total active userbase of Hive. If we can get some momentum in on niche then we can build on that.
They can scale as long as the price of hive goes up. Which, as I think I'm implying would, because we stop the extractive forces. Circle jerking would hopefully die down too.
There will always be some form of abuse happening here. I just want to see more people get the benefits, but we stand to gain too of course.
Distriator has a very easy way to curtail abuse... If someone is "cheating" they their whitelisted status gets removed. No longer will they get kick backs, nor upvotes from them.
So... can it happen? Will it happen? Sure. Impossible that humans will behave all the time. But unlike downvoting, drama, insults and war. All you gotta do is delist them from their system. (they don't even need to know it happened).

gracias hermano
Hive needs to evolve beyond just blogging if we want real growth. The tech is solid, but the mindset shift is what’ll truly take us forward. I hope we build something everyone can be part of.
I don't see it as an attack on Hive as a blogging platform, but rather an answer to the question "what next?"
We post, we powerup, we post more, and we keep going - hoping we didn't miss the window when to extract it all and run to the hibernation chamber for another 3-5 years.
How do we maintain the bloggers alive when crypto cycle ends? By creating a real-world use - independent of the crypto market.
If this scales, there can be a scenario where the local business runs out of HBDs to sell because the demand to buy things with HBD and get a discount is so great. That, in turn, will be an incentives for this business to purchase more HBD, and the only way to do that, is by buying Hive first. That is one way Hive can go up in value, outside of purely speculative crypto market.
In essence, the case is made of two parts:
Boost the hive economy by integrating it with the real-world commerce (using apps like @distriator) - creating a pathway to greater demand and growth without speculation.
Increasing user base by opening a pathway to non-content-creators. People who use their phones to buy and sell things locally.
Blogging will always go on. But content creators will benefit from the increase in the value of Hive.
You didn’t just share an “opinion”, you painted a whole new mental map of what Hive could become if we dare to think outside the traditional box.
Very interesting indeed. The distrator tool is an amazing innovation...
I'm a newbie and sharing my write ups here makes me excited. I have yet to learn about Hive and your post teaches me more about it. I hope this community will grow for everyone's benefit.

Excelente post! Y la imagen con IA, impecable!!
Great post and impressive points raised that makes the best of sense. SpendHBD is a great accomplishment and a life touching initiative and we continue to publisize it to give it a wider coverage.

¡Reblogueado!

Most humbly, I ponder the need to worry about energy accounting tokens. (Accounting for Our energy added into a system is the foundational function of money, in whatever form...) What would happen if free energy tech were to escape the clutched of the moneyed psychopaths in control...?
I know They have such tech in black projects.
If We have free energy, the accounting for Our energy added into a system vanishes, and especially is that Our wealth is returned to Us. Given that it's the single tool the moneyed psychopaths have to buy the things and the People to Their agendas, They keep it well hidden.
But I assure You We can experiment and get it Ourselves. (If I was not destitute and homeless, elderly and all, I surely would be doing so.) Then, We can build a society of Ethical sovereigns, all of Us living richly, and the moneyed psychopaths reduced to petty criminals if They break the three Laws of Ethics.
