As long as we are still here

Life carries on. Life — and therefore, problems — don’t wait for times to get better to show up. We have to learn to roll with the punches, as they say, and boy, am I learning to roll with them.

As if the universe itself were conspiring against me, these past few months have been full of car problems. So many that listing them all would probably bore you. That said, I think my wife’s Nissan is finally “good to go,” as I always say… for now.

All in all, I’m a lucky guy. Not only because the main theme of my life is peace, but because, for one reason or another, my wife and I always figure it out. Over time, I’ve learned not to let the negative voices in my head take over too much. Yes, they still like to say their piece, but they only get the talking stick for a few minutes.

I’m also lucky because @charlieripalda isn’t just a good friend — he’s an honest mechanic and shop owner. Not only can I pay him in HBD (which I just did today), but unlike most mechanics I’ve met, he’ll never do you wrong.

I was telling my stepdad, as we were driving to Charlie’s shop to pick up the Nissan:

“You know, I don’t shop around anymore.”

And I meant it.

It’s not just because of the convenience of paying with Hive’s stable token — which is awesome — but because, unlike all other shops I know, Charlie guarantees his work.

Isn’t that insane? Every time I think about it, my mind gets blown all over again. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve gotten a car back from a shop, only for it to break a week later, followed by the usual “it’s unrelated” excuses. That frustration is what led me to start learning about cars in the first place — a journey that culminated in me swapping out an entire engine. A three-day emotional rollercoaster if there ever was one.

You know, I just let go of the last HBD tokens I had — the ones I was holding for the dip — but honestly, I don’t care. I’m grateful I had them, and I’m grateful I earned them here, whether through writing silly stories, making something, or playing a game. It’s an indescribable feeling, to be honest.

Hence the title of this weird post of mine: “As Long as We Are Still Here.”

That’s my ethos these days. Because I sincerely feel that if there are still enough of us who refuse to turn off the lights, then I have nothing to worry about. Greener pastures are just over the next hill — or maybe the one after that.

It's nice to hear that you are a lucky person and your family is loyal to you. This is the biggest achievement in life. Paying for a car in HBD is also remarkable, but I don't have enough HBD to do that. Your blog is great. Thanks for sharing...

So I've dealt with people like this before it's nothing new

But what they are doing is bad Very badi joined steemit like everyone else thinking it offers freedom but I must say steemit offered much more freedom than Hive does

Everyone already knows I only post my own original content I have no need to steal anything from anyone

I've been labelled a lot of things on Hive 😂 by the biggest farmers scammers and downvoters

Actions speak louder than any words do especially when them words are coming from a compolsive liars

A trustworthy mechanic is worth more than we could possibly imagine... and most of us wish we knew one!

We still have a disable Jeep sitting the the driveway because a $5,000 blown headgasket fix is not in the cards for a while. But at least we working on the "trustworthy mechanic" part of the equation! 🤣

A trustworthy mechanic is a black swan event... if you ever find one, you don't let go!

When I used to drive, I had my own Charlie. He's retired now, but Kevin always rescued me from my cartastrophes.

I particularly remember an old Rover with a failed ECU. The cost of a new one was over £800. But Kevin spent half a day around scrapyards until he found one for £50. And he only charged me for fitting it - not the 4 hours for finding it.

I hold on to everyone who guarantees anything here. It's so rare! Which is also one of the reasons why I make a point that our clients can even return the bread within a couple of days if something was off (we just donate it then), and definitely the spreads and all the stuff I'm making. I gladly replace it. All I want is some feedback, and my clients to be happy and knowing that I do my best to give them the best.

I'm told that a lot, meant as a compliment, but it just makes me sad. It just shouldn't be something rare. It's the right thing to do. More should do it.
