A very special day - Un dia muy especial (Eng/Spa)

Today, my friends, I had the chance to show some of my newest onboards the true power of our blockchain. Seeing their faces light up as their imaginations took over brought the biggest smile to my face, and I guess I’m still riding that high.

Maybe it was the excitement I was feeling last night, or maybe it was the few mosquitoes that snuck into our mesh, but I woke up around 2 AM and couldn’t go back to sleep. I took it as a sign, as if the universe was telling me to get all my ducks in a row for the work ahead. You see, today I was going to meet @jersonsweetplace and show him this "magic internet money" is very, very real.

I remember vividly the day it all clicked for me in 2017, the year I decided I wouldn’t work for anyone but myself. In that hustle for freedom, I stumbled upon Steem (legacy chain). At the time, I was dabbling in stock trading to make ends meet, though with little success. (I’m still not a good trader, by the way, but that’s another story.)

I was brought here by someone who is long gone now. And right away, I started writing on this very blog to an audience of zero. I thought I was bringing out the heavy guns… but all I saw was digital tumbleweeds. I was on the verge of giving up when a few upvotes started showing up on my posts.

Are these real? I wondered, having no idea how anything worked yet.

It wasn’t long after that I found and joined the Open Mic contest—now carried forward by Vibes. Suddenly, a video of me singing one of my songs got a @curie vote, and a $100+ number sat at the bottom of my post. I couldn’t believe my eyes, so I decided to remain skeptical until further notice.

I didn’t win that round, though I would later. But when the seven-day payout arrived, those liquid tokens landed in my wallet without any friction. Can I make this money? I thought, still skeptical about this whole thing.

After watching some @blocktrades tutorials and setting up a Coinbase account, I was able to magically summon “real money” into my bank. And just like that, I realized: I didn’t understand a damn thing about money after all. Who paid me? From where? Why would they? What’s going on?

My hunger and curiosity took over. I binged videos and read everything I could find. I learned about Bitcoin and its problematic children. But more importantly, I began to understand just how much we—the common folk—have been getting screwed all along. I could see the scars in my own skin, they had always been there.

A new vocabulary emerged in my life: inflation, sovereignty, permissionless, trustless, decentralization. I must’ve sounded like a toddler trying out big words he didn’t quite grasp, but there I was, trying to explain it all to my wife, wide-eyed and fired up.

And today, I think I saw a bit of that same fire in my friend Jerson. I could sense his excitement, his mind racing with ideas. I told him, and I meant it, that he’s my best student so far. Why? Because he carries the one essential ingredient needed to make it in this jungle we call life: hunger for knowledge.

We started around 9:30 AM and spoke for hours. The whys, the hows, and the everythings in between. After it felt like I’d been preaching at him for far too long, we opened his Binance account, got him verified, and I showed him how "real" it all was.

By 2:30 PM, aside from my stomach begging for mercy, I felt like a million bucks. Jerson had completed his first trade, his first cash out—and most importantly, he understood every step.

To mark the occasion, I spent $10.75 at his establishment, going through the motions: creating an invoice, generating a QR code, making the payment, and claiming my discount with @distriator.

After leaving Jerson’s business, I drove home and decided to cook a celebratory meal for my wife and me. But thanks to my scatterbrain, I ended up with charred, inedible vegetables instead. Frustrated and still hungry for wins, I asked my wife if we needed to buy cigarettes for her mom. She nodded.

So we drove to see @charlieripalda.

As is often the case in tiny towns, the only gas station around—where Charlie has his shop—also sells drinks, snacks, and yes, cigarettes. We bought a full carton of cancer sticks and paid our tab.

With what? With HBD of course. With our stable token, once again.

I showed @charlieripalda how I’d “magically” gotten a discount for the cigarettes, and it didn’t come out of his pocket. I even showed him how I scored another discount on my bread earlier that day. I could almost see the gears in his head turning in real time.

We came back home, and round two in the kitchen was a success. I improvised, like I usually do—but it’s hard to miss the flavor target when you mix pork and peanuts.

At any rate, I’m exhausted. Not sleeping will do that to a middle-aged man. But I also feel like I won some kind of race today.

You know... there’s no better feeling than knowing a beautiful dawn is just minutes away, and I'm right here to witness it.

¿Quién me pagó?

What a great read! may it be one of many more to come from other Hiveans going on such journeys to bring commerce to Hive!

In a few days you will be able to check new users in so they can earn instant BTC and HBD liquid just from checking in with you! crazy! but true :))

Oh man... can't wait... We are already having conversations about hosting a little event for onboarding Jerson's friends/clients. Such a tool would be amazing.

Our move?
🔹 Unite voices: Use #bilpcoin or #bpc to highlight censorship & demand accountability.
🔹 Document abuse: Share evidence of unfair downvotes, self-voting scams, and double standards.
🔹 Push for reform: Advocate for transparent governance, vote caps, and community-driven rules.

Decentralization isn’t just a feature—it’s a fight. Let’s model fairness, rally allies, and pressure Hive to live up to its ideals.

Great read and it is quite amazing what Hive offers. I am not an onboard goblin like you but have someone lined up ready to start within the next month. They are lucky as he works at a big cat sanctuary so plenty of posts at their fingertips. I have known him since the army days and is staying with us next month in order to sign up.

if you got that one on one thing going, you won't just onboard someone, you will make him a hivean... that's worth a dozen quick onboards imo.

OMG, 2017. I joined December of that year having originally checked it out months before after hearing about "DTube" on two consecutive YouTube videos of people I was subbed to.

| "Are these real? I wondered, having no idea how anything worked yet."

Year took me a while to wrap my head around the whole thing at first. Happy days.

It's amazing to recapture the excitement of those early, heady, days! It was a different paradigm, so many opportunities to create alternative economies, create new worlds.

This community looks quite interesting. I was wondering if I can add my daily activities to it, like how I go to the hotel to visit or to visit the villages. Can I add all these things as real content or do I have to add some specific content?
