Bodie, CA - Ghost Town [EN/PT-BR]

I heard about this place a long time ago, but never made it there. Not until yesterday. The story about the place always sounded interesting, and all I knew was that it was a ghost town that thrived during the California gold rush. Now I got to know a little bit more about the history of this place. It was just a small mining town, until gold was found there around 1870. The town thrived only for a few years when other more promising gold prospecting places attracted most workers away and then it was just a small town again. When mining was not profitable anymore, it just became a ghost town.

Today Bodie is a state park, Bodie State Historic Park, and a National Historic Landmark.

It was fun to check it out, and I loved some of the pictures I took. The desert and the blue skies are beautiful. But it was a very windy day, so windy that it was hard to stand outside. The wind was cold and there was too much dust in the air. I wish the conditions were better as I would have spent a lot more time there. There were a lot of interesting things to see and I wasn't able to see everything. You always try to imagine what it would be like to live there during that time.

The town is just a little north of Mono Lake, near Bridgeport and Lee Vining. If you are in the area looking for a different activity, this is an interesting spot to see.

Let's check out the pictures.

Wow that place still looks like it was built in this year. That looks awesome as a ghost town. Never knew these places really existed until now. I'm really curious about the gold that was found there around 1870. Thank you for sharing this story with us, it really made me research about this place and to know more story 🤍

Looks like a dope place to visit! Abandoned towns rock, but they're scary as fuck during night time haha

hahaha and I didn't check out the cemetery. the wind was blowing too hard, and the cemetery was a bit further.
they close it at 4pm, so no night visits, but there are some people living there, probably employees of the park.

It's interesting to see this ghost town that has become a state park. I can imagine the people who worked hard and used those old machineries. It looks like a town that we see in old films with horses and cowboys. Lots of interesting elements to see especially the the old tools and stuffs left inside the building. Very interesting place for discovery.

It's hard not to think what it was to live there. Very different times.

It’s crazy to think about how those gold rush towns just popped up and then almost disappeared. I love how places like that let you step back in time and imagine what life was really like.
