Over 1,700 National Guard troops are now patrolling Washington DC
So here’s the latest in this circus: apparently the soldiers got bored vacationing in sunny California and decided to detour to D.C.
Over 1,700 National Guard troops are now patrolling the capital—shipped in from West Virginia, South Carolina, Ohio, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Tennessee. Their mission? Traffic control, monument babysitting, “community safety patrols,” and good old-fashioned “crime prevention.” And yes, it’s all federally funded—so congratulations, you’re footing the bill.
Why all this muscle? Official story: crime and homelessness. Reality check: politicians are bragging that “violent crime is technically lower than Trump’s first term.” Fantastic—on paper we’re safer… yet somehow we need military patrols in the nation’s capital. If that’s “lower crime,” I’d hate to see “high crime.”
But instead of consequences for criminals, we keep hearing about “root causes” and “social programs.” Funny how that playbook never works anywhere else—but somehow, some people think it’ll magically fix things here.
And let’s not forget—these are the same politicians who spent the last four years swearing crime was under control, the border was under control, cops and ICE agents were racist, borders were racist, and chanting “root causes” like it’s a magic spell. Meanwhile, their brilliant “solutions” only make problems worse. Shocker.
Remember the “mostly peaceful” protests? Or the looting followed by blaming the same stores for being racist if they closed down? And let’s not forget those caravans at the border—showing up like they were late to a party they didn’t want to miss. Somehow we’re supposed to forget all this.
Meanwhile, the protests keep rolling. People are outraged that soldiers are in the streets—as if crime is just some quirky neighborhood feature we’re supposed to accept. Which makes me wonder:
what level of crime are we actually supposed to tolerate?
• Shoplifting? That’s “social justice.”
• Looting? Just poverty expressing itself.
• Drugs on the sidewalk? Therapy in motion.
• Home invasion? Oops—wrong address.
• Murder? Okay, maybe that’s too far… unless there’s a “root cause” explanation handy.
So which package deal do we want for our neighborhoods?
- Bronze tier (shoplifting only)
- Silver (shoplifting + drugs)
- Full platinum package (looting, needles, and the occasional homicide)?
Let’s call it what it is: some people want the freedom to commit crime without consequences, while the rest of us are expected to get used to living in third-world conditions.
Bottom line: if we don’t believe in consequences, then crime is the new normal. And from where I’m sitting, the only thing “lower” than crime right now is the bar for what counts as unacceptable.
