Winter morning sunrise

A cold sunrise over Lake Michigan. The winter days are beginning to get noticeably longer, and sunrise is happening earlier.

The ice covered pier out to the navigational becon is illuminated by the early morning light.

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed the Lake Michigan Rescue Equipment Act into law in 2022 following a series of drownings in Lake Michigan. The red post on the left of the photo contains an emergency flotation life bouy ring.

The act requires private and government-owned piers and drop-off points to have public rescue equipment like flotation devices, and local governments have to post warnings in high-incident areas and standardize reporting of drownings to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

That is a nice sunrise, love the color, and also how it hits the pier.
I am wondering is that ice ont he banks of the lake? must be really cold isn't it?
I have to look up at google to try to locate Michigan, and try to understand the USA Map with its states.

The water is called Lake Michigan and the photos were taken at the South West end of the lake in Chicago. There is also a state of Michigan which is across the lake from me.

There is ice all along the lakeshore. We have had some cold temperatures.

Its nice the days are finally getting longer 🙂. My older brother went to Northwestern Law School which is downtown. Your photos of the beach along Lake Michigan always make me think of when I visited him while he was in law school.

My son's place is only about 8 miles south from Northwestern. I can see why the lakeshore would feel familiar.
He lives about 5 miles north of the law school.
