A cross with a view

My kids sent these lovely photos from Zihuatanejo (pronounced zeewha-tan-ay-hoe” and often shortened to “Zihua”) Mexico.

The once sleepy fishing village was made famous in “The Shawshank Redemption,” when the Tim Robbins' character Andy Dufresne escapes prison and heads straight to his dream paradise, Zihuatanejo. Because of the movie this small town is now a tourist destination.

This vantage point, with a wonderful view of the protected waters of Bahía de Zihuatanejo includes a cross with a legend. It seems that long ago a family drove off a cliff on their way down to the beach and they were miraculously saved. They had this cross built as an offering to celebrate their good fortune.

The color of the steps changes dramatically from pink to terra cotta as the sun gets lower in the sky.

And I thought a good way to conclude this series of photos was with a shadow!

We hope you enjoyed these photos!

Oh wow great shots. All the terra cotta and palm trees make me miss Mexico and want to be back. A little escape during a cool day where spring is still fighting to get its feet down!

What a beautiful place! I used to love going to Mexico, but since the whole cartel business popped up I haven't been there for years. That sure is a really nice place!

Yeah I worry each time they go down there, but what can I say. I haven't been there in years either.

A place that looks quite touristy in the photos. Although the name piques my curiosity, and I have trouble pronouncing it correctly, even though my native language is Spanish (personal laughter). 😅👍✝️

The wonderful abundance of this beautiful city is a joy to behold. Visiting such places with your kids is really fun. But there is an opportunity to visit the beach. The beautiful rays of light allow a view of the honey. But I like pink color very much. Although the stairs look very beautiful but there are traditions in these stairs.

Wonderful photos. Love the shots of the cross and tie in to Shawshank Redemption. I love that movie.
The chemistry between Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins is awesome. I watched it recently and had forgotten the disturbing, violent, real portrayal of prison life. I guess I have a selective memory. Or maybe I could just watch Morgan Freeman in anything and enjoy it 🙂
