The Loop - mural

This 40ft tall Chicago mural is for CCC's Street Art Contest A new contest has just begun for this week.

Location- 40 W. lda B Wells Drive Chicago, IL 60605

The Loop is the nickname for downtown Chicago because of the elevated railway loop that encircles the area. This mural was painted to honor city workers who lost their jobs during Covid.

Dwight White is a Chicago-based artist who played defensive back for the Northwestern football team before injuries forced him to leave the team prior to his senior year. He found art while attempting to reinvent himself after taking one art class.

These Cana Tropicana plants were growing in planters in the Loop on Michigan Avenue in front of the Colores Mexicanos gift store. The variegated leaves attracted attention in the afternoon sunlight and seemed photoworthy.

Very cool mural to show one of the many struggles that COVID19 caused. Nice shots of that plant to 😃

It's not bad, there's a style and idea. That's the kind of thing I like, not the silly graffiti.

It's nice to know about the history of this mural.

TBH, looking at it, I understand very little!

Nice mural and nice tribute to the workers. Those variegated leaves are very striking. Cool curves that the pattern follows. Very unique.

Glad you like it! The streets were crowded and it was difficult to stop long enough to get a decent photo,
