Springtime birds
Birds and their shadows are always so much more photogenic when the sun is shining! All 3 of the birds in my photos migrate to warmer climates during the winter and have only recently returned back to Wisconsin to nest and raise their young, and spend the summer here.
red winged blackbird
common grackle
Common grackles can be found widely across North America, east of the Rocky Mountains. The feathers on their heads are almost iridescent in the sunshine, especially the males. The grackles down by the water were gathering nesting material.
This American robin had not only already gathered her nesting materials and built a nest, but her eggs had hatched and her little ones could be seen poking their heads out! I couldn't resist these shadow photos of not only the mama bird, but also the shadows of the babies!

We have so many beautiful summertime birds visiting us every year! They give us one more reason to enjoy the changing seasons. I'm glad you enjoyed the photos!
Love the birds, especially the Common Grackle. Blue in nature looks so amazing!
👍
Oh they return for a Summer holiday 😂
These birds understand seasons more than we do and they take advantage of each.
Beautiful photos.
I'm quite happy the chose to spend their holidays here!
The little baby beaks just barely peeking over the edge of the nest are so adorable!
Both parents feed the babies, and these little ones seemed to think it was lunchtime!
It's always lunchtime in babyville!
Beautiful birds with interesting designs on them, especially the first one. Tiny red within black!!
Thanks for sharing those.

They are very territorial birds and will chase away anyone coming too close to their nests.
Through these photographs and posts, it seems that you have a lot of love for the bird. You will be very close to his daily routine. @melinda010100
I do love all of nature!
I can see the birds are very ecstatic about the spring, so they can resume their mating activities. Beautiful birds, beautifully coloured!
Spring is a joyful time of year!
Looks like you know the names of so many birds
They are really cute though
Love them!
I've always felt learning about nature is important! And birds are an amazing part of the world around me!
The day is special when such beautiful birds are seen and good pictures are taken. I myself am very fond of seeing such birds.

You captured some sweet photos, Melinda. It is nice to see the birds returning. The Baltimore Orioles just came back along with the Hummingbirds. ❤️
Same here! Its so lovely having everyone returning! Today it was an Indigo bunting!
I just saw some of these blackbirds over the weekend. They make a very sharp ringing sound and look so cool when they spread their wings.
They do have a very distinctive call!
A renewal time ! brings hope and joy😉
I'm really looking forward to warm days and the colors of nature!
