Springtime birds

Birds and their shadows are always so much more photogenic when the sun is shining! All 3 of the birds in my photos migrate to warmer climates during the winter and have only recently returned back to Wisconsin to nest and raise their young, and spend the summer here.

common grackle

Common grackles can be found widely across North America, east of the Rocky Mountains. The feathers on their heads are almost iridescent in the sunshine, especially the males. The grackles down by the water were gathering nesting material.

This American robin had not only already gathered her nesting materials and built a nest, but her eggs had hatched and her little ones could be seen poking their heads out! I couldn't resist these shadow photos of not only the mama bird, but also the shadows of the babies!

This is the time of year for new babies!

Oh they return for a Summer holiday 😂
These birds understand seasons more than we do and they take advantage of each.
Beautiful photos.

The little baby beaks just barely peeking over the edge of the nest are so adorable!

Both parents feed the babies, and these little ones seemed to think it was lunchtime!

They are very territorial birds and will chase away anyone coming too close to their nests.

Through these photographs and posts, it seems that you have a lot of love for the bird. You will be very close to his daily routine. @melinda010100

I can see the birds are very ecstatic about the spring, so they can resume their mating activities. Beautiful birds, beautifully coloured!

You captured some sweet photos, Melinda. It is nice to see the birds returning. The Baltimore Orioles just came back along with the Hummingbirds. ❤️

I just saw some of these blackbirds over the weekend. They make a very sharp ringing sound and look so cool when they spread their wings.
