Sand in your shoes.

In 1966,Indiana Dunes National Park became the 61st national park of the United States. It had been a longtime tourist destination, located in northwestern Indiana.

The park runs for about 20 miles (32 km) along the southern shore of Lake Michigan, just under 50 miles from Chicago. Perfect for a day trip.
My kids use public transportation most of the time, but this was a good excuse to get their car out of underground parking and spend a Saturday out of the city.

Some of the sand dunes in the park are massive, towering over the tree tops,

The tallest dune in the park is Mount Tom, which stands at 192 feet above Lake Michigan. Other notable dunes include Mount Holden (184 feet) and Mount Jackson (176 feet). and Mount Baldy, a "living" dune that actively moves, is approximately 126 feet tall.

Within the park there are dunes, swamps, bogs, marshes, prairies, rivers and forests and miles of hiking trails. Be prepared to get your shoes full of sand if you go hiking there!

How are you, dear friend @melinda010100?

It was definitely worth taking the car out of the garage and visiting this heavenly place.

Beautiful photographs.

Have a happy and prosperous week.

Thanks! Usually they only drive when they come to see me. Last time the battery was dead from sitting. They need to remember to use the car occasionally! 😁

Hello, lady @melinda010100, how are you?

It's so nice to have this beautiful national park less than 100 kilometers away to visit.

The place is very beautiful, and they took gorgeous photos.

Have a nice day.

Now it costs $25 to get in and there are restrictions of where you can go. No climbing Mt Baldy allowed.

Lovely photos, but I don't like sand :)
If you spend some time in a sandy area like this, it's everywhere. In your shoes, in your clothes, in your pockets, in your nose, in your ears, in your hair :)

Greetings, it is good that you have the lake and those places nearby to be able to walk and distract yourself.
I really like this photo:

I've never regretted sand in my shoes 🙂 my favorite are beaches soft enough you can go barefoot. Nice pics. Fun to have this in Indiana. Not the first place I think of when I think of sandy beaches and dunes 😆
