Pareidolia

Have you ever sat gazing up at the clouds and imagining shapes and images?

It seems there is a name for it. It is called pareidolia. "

It's the psychological phenomenon where the brain perceives a meaningful pattern or image, like a face, animal, or object, in random or ambiguous stimuli, such as clouds.

Like this Godzilla cloud peering over this building!

This plane is flying in out of the clouds to land at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport.

These cloud photos were taken last night from my kids 4th floor balcony.
It was a beautiful evening for sitting out watching the clouds and the sky cooperated and put on a marvelous show!

Can you see the frog? I think he is waving at us as he poses between the buildings for a photo!

What images do you see?

Busek seemed pretty certain that the photos would turn out to be pretty boring without a cat in them....

Todas las figuras son increíbles. La nube detrás del edificio realmente parece Gotzilla

Hey, that's something that happens to me a lot, and I didn't know the real name hahaha, thanks for that.

A creative "exercise" I used to do as a kid was crumple a piece of paper and then draw on it the shapes my mind created between the wrinkles. It was so much fun!

A new word is always fun! I used to make 'scribble' pictures using a black crayon and then fill it in much the same way as you did with your crumpled paper pictures. Fun stuff!

Wow this is so fascinating😮 It's amazing how our minds find familiar shapes in random things. Your captures are really fun and creative pareidolia never fails to surprise

I also love to gaze at clouds and make different patterns, images or shapes from clouds as I can make many from your pictures of clouds too 😉

Those are pretty interesting clouds formation! I love those!

However, I stared for some time to find the frog. I couldn't but scrolling down I found that you marked it already. it wasn't an easy catch!

I also love looking for shapes in clouds!
I always had my kids play with them, trying to find new shapes in them, and it's fantastic how they surprise us!

I think it's great that spaces and actions like these are multiplying!

I love watching the clouds.
I see a cute crocodile’s head sticking out its tongue. Then a cowboy side profile in the empty space… then nothing and the last one I see a cupid hahaha
The cat just had to be in the picture, so cute.
Have a wonderful day.

Oh, I've been exposed 😂. Thought that I was the only one who's hooked on imagining images in the sky.
Sometimes, I do record short video while my imagination goes wild, hehehe.

These are great shots, especially that of the funny faced fog. 😂

He is an immigrant! He came to the US from Russia. He is named after Alexander the Greats horse, Bucephalas.

We all, no exception, have seen something in the clouds at least once in our lives. It's amazing. Good pictures.

The human brain is programmed to make out familiar images, so even in nebulous ones like those above we do the same. Human faces are something we seem hardwired to seek out, which makes sense. Pareidolia, how interesting. There really is a word for everything. Clouds can hide so many potential shapes, the Godzilla cloud you found was really cool! The one with the light shining through looks a bit like a kidney, and I'm pretty sure I saw a cat in those pictures somewhere!
