Mother's Day at my house

I had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend filled with flowers and my kids here for the whole weekend! The weather was perfect, as you can see in this view through the window!

The spring flowers have faded, as they always do when the temperatures begin to warm up.

I received some lovely potted plants as gifts that will be beautiful out on my deck this summer. My daughter is setting up a drip line watering system that can be controlled by an app on my phone so that I don't have to drag a hose around every day to water everything.

Iris blooming beside the deck. They come up every year and always look beautiful.

It's always fun to see the baby geese going for their first swim in the river.

This yellow calla lily is a favorite gift, although I am not certain how to continue to grow it. They are not winter hardy here and I will need to do some research about what they require

I'm looking forward to happy summer days ahead!

Thanks! I had a couple blue bottles and over the years I have been given so many more to add to the collection. Some are wine bottles and some contained medicine, I have 2 window sills full of bottles.

Love your blue glass window.... and the lush green view beyond.

The photo with the withering flowers and others boka'd in the background is very artistic. I love looking at it.

What a wonderful gift to have your children there all weekend.

The calla lilies will come back outside year after year here, but I didn't know that and through the years, as times called for it, my work would send a double basket of flowers, always the same, a peace lily and a calla, which type I thought was an indoor plant and at which I never made live long. I even complained to myself last time, wonder why they kept sending the same things every time, knowing one would die fast.

Imagine my surprise when my Mom planted hers outside and every year since, they have come back up! Looks like some nice flowers died at my house that didn't have too !

Getting them to overwinter here is the hard part. They don't like it when the ground freezes solid. I saw that they are reliably Hardy to Zone 8. I'm in zone 5

I really like how that daffodil photo turned out, too. Faded blooms can still have value!

This time of year the greenery provides a curtain/sound barrier to the boats on the river. I still have a nice view of the mouth of the spring, where the geese are swimming.

I'm excited to see how well the drip system works.
