Happy 4th of July weekend in the USA

Fireworks, along with canon fire and church bells, have been part of Independence Day in the United States since the first organized celebration of the holiday, in 1777.

The 4th of July, officially known as Independence Day, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. This historic document declared the thirteen American colonies' separation from British rule, establishing the United States of America.

The day is celebrated with parades, cookouts and picnics, concerts featuring patriotic music and after dark fireworks displays. I think it is important to celebrate the tradition, even when you don't feel particularly patriotic.

This fireworks display was on Edgewater Beach in Chicago, just a short walk from my kids house.

The thunderstorms stayed away and families enjoyed the relative escape from the heat near the cool water of the lake.

Reflections of the sparkling ariel blasts in Lake Michigan.

And here is a brief video for anyone wanting to hear the booms. Fireworks are often traumatizing for pets, wildlife and people with noise sensitivities.

keep up the good work

We only use fireworks on newyears eve , was kind of dissapointing when I was celebrating new years even in Miami Beach and .. no fireworks back in 1989 / 1990 .

And now they have accepted a law that is going forbid fireworks by private use , to many people import the ilegal stuff and use it for bad things , and so the good have to suffer .

Congratulations! I hope that aliens did not come to you this year for a holiday, as in 1996. 😂

The United States is a great country, but not because of its size, but because of its energy, its people, its history, and the way they honor their heroes. It must be a real pride to have that nationality.
Congratulations on that 4th of July!

Fireworks are always beautiful! What a nice thing to have the beach so close to the house and a great show so close by. Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures!

They have to walk around Saddle and Cycle Club property to get to the beach. Needless to say they are not club members. Membership typically involves a $75,000 Initiation fee and $7,980 Annual dues

Gosh I miss that so much. Fireworks are banned in SA. Look, I understand the environmental activists, but I mean come on. there is nothing more magical than fireworks! And what gorgeous shot you managed to capture!
