Jewelry Exhibition

I want to share photos of some of the stunning jewelry pieces that are included in the Chicago Collects Exhibition at the Driehaus Museum.

Many of these elegant pieces are in private collections and have never been displayed before

Chicago Collects: Jewelry in Perspective opens with a timeline of stylistic periods of jewelry history from the late 17th century to the present. From there, items are organized into categories of collecting interest, such as Art Nouveau, Jugendstil, Vienna Secession, British Arts & Crafts, Chicago Arts & Crafts, 19th Century Revival, Belle Époque, Louis Comfort Tiffany, Art Deco, Fabergé, Important Makers, Tiaras, and Mid-Century Modern and Contemporary Jewelry.

There were over 200. "rare and historically significant” jewelry pieces ranging from the late 17th century to today.

I would have had a hard time choosing a favorite.

An Art Nouveau pendant featuring ivory gold and opal from a private collection

Maison Vever?s (French) circa 1905, weaves pearls and diamonds among enamel and velvet. Collection of Richard H. Driehaus.

This striking tiara was designed by Arts and Crafts jeweler Frederick James Partridge It is made of horn and moonstone. "It looks like sheaths of wheat, and the moonstone looks like drops of dew.”

Gorgeous exhibit. I like the pieces that look Art Deco or Art Noveau. The one in the middle of your post is my favorite... looks like Tiffany glass

It does look very Tiffany inspired. I like that one, too. There were too many pieces to remember which ones were from which designers.

I don’t like jewelry to wear on my body but I love to see it in others or in exhibitions like this. It’s a delicate artwork, I loved these pieces especially the Art Deco ones. 🤩

This is truly beautiful! 😍
Not today and maybe not tomorrow but one day I will definitely buy some of them for my wife. Till then I'll show her the pictures of these art pieces.😄

Hi @melinda10100, the jewellery samples are interesting, some of them being quite old.
Regards.

Such beautiful works of art. It's amazing too see just how nice the work was back then, they made quality. Of course these were all high end, but still! Very cool museum visit!
