Illinois Firefighters Memorial
This 14 foot tall memorial, in Springfield, Illinois was erected in 1993 in honor of the fire-fighters of Illinois who have given their lives in the line of duty and to those who heroically serve with courage and pride.
"DEDICATED TO THE FIREFIGHTERS OF ILLINOIS WHO HAVE GIVEN THEIR LIVES IN THE LINE OF DUTY AND TO THOSE WHO HEROICALLY SERVE WITH COURAGE, PRIDE AND HONOR"
My nephew and his girlfriend had a house fire in their rural home. It was started by a laptop while no one was home, and the house and contents burned to the ground before anyone reported the fire and the fire department arrived. So many family heirlooms and memorabilia were lost. It was traumatizing for all of us.
Fire scares me and I recently bought new fire extinguishers to replace the old ones I had for years. All batteries in my smoke alarms are replaced as needed. It gives me some peace of mind knowing they will work if I ever need them.
The memorial, depicting four life-size bronze figures of firefighters in action and a rescued child, is located at the Illinois State Capitol Complex.
This fire engine drove past at just the right time to capture a photo!

😬😬, Fire is really terrifying! It's good to know that your nephew and gf was ok but also starting over again? That was hard.
That is why I unplugged everything everytime I left home.
But there was a time at night thankful my son's cried and ask for milk. Our electric fan smells like burning wire 😔
He lost so many irreplaceable momentos. Insurance paid for the household items, but so many things were priceless.

Fire also scared me alot you are really right putting, putting safety measures in the house can really help by buying fire extinguisher and fire ball will really help in the house

Fire is only good when use to prepare food and other well meaning things, but aside that, fire is a monster.

Fire incidents are the worst ever and shouldn't be anything that anyone should go through. It's so traumatic!
I remember when the house we lived back then caught fire. It was scary and something I didn't want to replay.

I experienced fire when I was a little girl, I think I was five years old at that time. Our family's newsstand/cafeteria named after me caught a fire. Truly changed our lives.
