Ice candles and colored globes

The snow is too cold to stick together to pack and roll balls for a snowman. It's too cold to enjoy skiing and other winter sports for very long. Do you have any ideas for fun cold weather projects?

How about making ice candles? Silicone molds are available to make cup shaped ice containers. And all you have to do is fill them with water and set them outdoors. They freeze rapidly when the outdoor temps are below zero°!

You can add decorations, such as these evergreen sprigs, into the water before freezing the ice cups.

They look lovely outdoors on a cold still winter night and the votive candles burn for quite a while if the wind is not blowing.
LED flameless candles would keep the ice cup from melting and wouldn't blow out in the wind.
The best part is that you can enjoy them by staying indoors where it is warm and looking out the window!

Another fun project is to fill balloons with colored water to create snow globes to decorate the edges of your walkway. In the bitter cold temperatures that we have been having these giant ice cubes last a long time.

A word of warning. The colored water makes a mess if the ballon pops when you are filling it in the sink!

What a fun and creative way to enjoy the cold winter with these activities. The candles are beautiful, and I believe decorating the walkway with balloons 🎈 will be cool, too. 😎 😍

I can see the mess 😂 Fun ideas! the snow is definitely not good for snowmen. Unfortunately I spent some of my outside time today raking the snow off a neighbors roof. Necessary but not exactly fun. Nice to have light fluffly snow though - much easier to clear it off the roof 🙂

Easier to shovel, for sure! Winter is a pretty time of year, especially when viewed through the window!

Sadly we have only two, at least visually. I can't wait to enjoy the colors of everyone of them 😊

Wow! This creation is very beautiful, looking at it from here, from the tropics where the only ice cream is in the freezer. Your creation is wonderful and, above all, very artistic. I love it.

No freezer is necessary here this time of year. Food stays frozen if I put it out on the back porch!

Just a fun project if you have cabin fever when you are stuck at home because of the cold!
