Family time
During the last visit from the kids they did the cooking while they were here. They made lasagna one day, bread pudding for breakfast, and these great beef short ribs and all the side dishes to go with the meat.
2 tbsp Coarse Black Pepper (freshly ground is best)
2 tbsp Kosher Salt
1 tbsp Garlic Powder
1 tbsp Onion Powder
1 tsp Smoked Paprika
½ tsp Ground Cumin
They coated them in spices and browned them on top of the stove before adding some BBQ sauce and putting them in the slow cooker for several hours
The ribs were brushed with more BBQ sauce and finished off under the broiler. They were fork tender and tasted quite amazing!
They were served with homemade cornbread and delicious baked beans, and coleslaw made with cabbage.
And birthday cake from the "Nothing Bundt Cakes" bakery for dessert!
Two flavors of cake. Oreos Cookies and Cream and Chocolate Chocolate Chip.
It was a great celebration and a fun time with the family together.

Me too! I froze some of the leftovers, but even those are gone now, too.

Short ribs are always so tender and delicious, now I'm going to have to find some at the grocery store. lol

They were so good! I shared your salmon cakes recipe with my daughterinlaw. I have enjoyed having some in the freezer for a quick easy meal.

The ribs were great. They brought the cake from one of their favorite bakeries in their neighborhood in the city. I'm guessing it cost more than I would have been willing to pay for a cake, but it was very good! City prices always shock me!

My daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren are coming from Moscow on Saturday. I invited them to attend a master class on cooking delicious food. The daughter said she was tired of cooking at home. My son-in-law suggests that I cook meat on the grill. That would be cool, but... Frosts are forecast on Friday, showing a temperature of -33 degrees, then warming to -25 degrees. Who will be standing at the barbecue in the courtyard outdoors?
