The Peninsula Chicago is a 5-star hotel , located in the heart of Chicago's "Magnificent Mile". It is part of the Peninsula Hotel group that is based in Hong Kong and it was decorated exquisitely for the holidays.
What an elegant place to go for dinner during the holidays!
The Executive Chef is Baasim Zafar and the food is delicious and elegant! I'm wishing I had food photos to share but remembering to take photos comes second when you are having a marvelous time!
The view out the dining room windows is of the hotel's ice skating rink.
My family will be arriving here at my house to spend the weekend celebrating more of Christmas, a couple of birthdays, and New Years together. Food and songs and gifts and lots of enjoying being together. Merry times!
Santa must have been off hitching up the reindeer, because his chair was empty and provided a great spot for photo opportunities. My granddaughter was practicing saying HoHoHo!

That is a really great photo! I don't know if the city sidewalks would ever be emptied enough of people to capture that kind of mood in a photo. There is always quite a crowd

My daughter has been in and out helping me get ready, but these guys will arrive Friday morning to spend the weekend. Everyone will be together on Saturday. I can't wait!

I see that you had a wonderful Christmas! A wonderful place, it feels like the Christmas spirit has permeated the entire hotel and restaurant there.
I'm finding that you and I have more and more in common. I also forget to take pictures of food. My daughters remind me of this.
How old is your granddaughter? My eldest granddaughter turned 16 old 2 weeks ago. She's coming to my house for the holidays tomorrow, but I'm not at home yet.
How long do you have Christmas holidays? This year, our vacation starts from December 30th to January 8th.
My family holidays are mostly done after Jan. 1st. Although many that are Othodox celebrate on Jan. 7th. It's a festive time of year.
I am still having a hard time believing that my darling granddaughter is 17 and will be off to University next fall. It's seems like only yesterday she was sitting on my lap asking me to read books to her. They grow up so quickly!
You also have a leapfrog with holidays. :) Christmas lasts for 2 weeks.
Does the granddaughter not sit on her grandmother's lap now? 😂😂😂
I stayed with my daughter for 5 days between my trip to Abu Dhabi and hung out with my grandson. He is already over 6 months old! He starts to get to his feet holding onto me and he has also learned to sit on his own.
It's so fun to have a baby in the family! I miss that!
Everything looks impeccable, the decoration is wonderful, they didn't miss any detail, there are nutcrackers of all sizes, what I like most in December is to see lights everywhere there is something about it, food must be delicious too
It is beautifully decorated. I am always shocked by city prices. Many of the rooms in the hotel are over $1000 per night.

Rooftop ice skating, surrounded by skyscrapers and city lights. That would be fun. I haven't been ice skating since I was a kid. I guess this ice is synthetic. I didn't even know there was such a thing!

Children grow too quickly, no grandchildren here, nieces children some in their thirties, others in twenties with youngest now reaching five years, many miles between each other it would be nice to gather together.

I would love to meet my sisters only grandson I believe he is quite a character. Distance and circumstance has changed the world the way we knew it a couple of years ago.

Ditto, I feel the same sometimes, children don't have the outdoor lifestyle we were afforded.
This is the advantage of such events, people go together to such beautiful places and enjoy their time in a very good way. All these decorations look very beautiful.
