The Irving Park station on the Brown Line of Chicago's L features tile mosaics created by Juan Carlos Macias. The mosaics, which are located inside and on the front of the station house, depict customers riding public transportation.

In Irving Park, the new Independence Library and Apartments provides a 2 story Library and 44 affordable senior citizen apartments. Each balcony is painted a different color.

Chicago is breaking the mold and uniting the strengths of our neighborhood libraries with great housing that is affordable and accessible,” the mayor said in a statement. “Bringing together world-class libraries together with housing builds strong neighborhoods and provides a place for all community residents to gather, share and succeed.”source

Wow Mel the mosaics at Irving Park station look really really incredible.p It's wonderful to see public art that celebrates everyday life. The colorful library balconies are a fantastic idea too. Chicago is really making neighborhoods vibrant😍😍😍 can't wait to travel around

Mosaics always so impressive, nice to see public transport used as medium of conversation.

Building painted with different colours brightens up the whole area which is also delightful to see.

Library and housing. Interesting. I like the idea. Love the transportation mural. It seemed a little retro... then I realized, no one is staring at their phone 😂 thats what I see on public transit these days 🙄

Nice mosaic with this style. And cool to see colors on this "social" building, design isn't usually given much consideration in this type of construction. Thanks for sharing these pics on The StreetArt Community.
