Bette Davis vanity table.

American actress Bette Davis was born in 1908, in Lowell, Massachusetts. She became one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, appearing in nearly 100 films before her death in 1989.

This vanity table, that belonged to Davis, is in the Perfume Passage museum collection in Barrington, Illinois and displayed in the Art Deco Room.

Her number 1 ranked film, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane was the first horror/thriller that I ever saw and it properly terrified me! It may also be the reason that I avoid that film genre even now!
The 1962 film starring Bette Davis and Joan Crawford was about an aging actress who holds her paraplegic sister captive in an old Hollywood mansion. Their collaboration on this film, was reportedly a nightmare for the cast and crew due to a dislike and rivalry between the two actresses.

When Joan Crawford died Bette Davis's most well-known quote about Joan Crawford's death is: "You should never say bad things about the dead, you should only say good. Joan Crawford is dead. Good."

The label says "EAU DE TOILETTE LE DE GIVENCHY" and "3 2/3 FL. OZ." The smaller bottle on the right also appears to be a smaller version of the same fragrance.

Her last completed movie was The Whales of August, released in 1987.

Thanks for the introduction, the rivalry reminds me of that of Prost-Senna in F1

I think we often see passionate rivalries between passionate people. I certainly know of that F1 rivalry, but wasn't watching during those years.

You can consider “Senna” series on Netflix was quite good, critics has some things to say, but I enjoyed it anyway. Hope you will if you decide to watch it.

Wow, those years take me way back! I'm just imagining how mesmerizing that movie would look flickering on a TV screen. 🤔

I saw Baby Jane when a friends parents took us to the outdoor movie theater. I love old movies, but have never watched that one on TV.

The hard work a person does remains there and people remember him. He has also done many films and people would definitely be happy to watch his films even today.

Those giant egos of Hollywood past... Too bad so many actors develop such big egos and become extremely hard to work with on the set. Very cool stuff you shared today. It's an amazing piece of history having belonged to Bette Davis herself. I've seen a lot of older movies with her as leading lady, she was a talented actress!
