BAM

Broadway Antique Market (BAM!) in Chicago.
It is one of the city's largest and oldest antique malls, featuring items from over 75 different dealers.

They are known for their extensive collection of high-quality Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern furniture and decor, vintage furniture, art, jewelry, and fashion.

The store is quite large and not as cluttered as many antique shops tend to be.

I'll keep the photos of furniture for later, and share some photos of vintage clothing, shoes and accessories.

Vintage evening wear garment, most likely from the 60s or 70s is a pale yellow brocade fabric with beaded detail.

Genuine leopard fur hat (popular in the 1940s-1960s before conservation efforts)

Ladies leather ankle boots. The square toe was characteristic of late 1960s to early 1970s footwear.

Mens 1950s silk ties. Such wide and crazy prints! My mom once had a commission to make a quilt out of men's ties. I don't remember any of the fabrics in the quilt being as bold as these prints are!

If you happen to be into vintage fashion this would be a fun place to go shopping!

This is a wonderful vintage piece of creative art that is both practical and decorative. But this ancient evening dress is truly eye-catching. People in ancient times were very tall, which is much bigger than today. Which we can understand by looking at the dress.

Thanks for sharing. I didn't know you had such an interesting place.

It's not my era, but I think it's because of the movies I watched as a kid that I like Art Deco decor a bit. I think it was quite an elegant style.

In my city, we used to have informal markets selling family antiques and other miscellaneous items, although we called it “Corotos Market”. In those spaces, you could find everything from antiques from the last century to crazy deals on much more modern things. The one I remember most was an open-air market, but today all the ones I remember have closed.

So your post has made me feel a bit nostalgic and reminded me of places I used to like to stroll through.

P.S. “Corotos” is a very specific regional term and can refer to almost any object, although it originally referred to paintings by the French artist Corot, due to a certain humorous incident involving his paintings and the wife of a president of my country from the early 20th century.

The open air markets here are called flea markets. I looked up the name and found these markets specialize in selling second-hand items, including old furniture, carpets, clothing, and textiles.
The humorous perception, was that these used goods were likely to be infested with fleas or other pests!

Flea markets are usually only held on weekends and each vendor has a different variety of goods for sale.

What a cool store! I love those kind of shops to go through and browse through all of the vintage items. Sometimes picking some up to flip on eBay! I can't say I would buy any of the neckties in that selection though, they almost make me laugh in disbelief at one time they were "In style"! It's too bad you can't get out as much anymore to those places, aging is rough even for the toughest of us!

How is your weekend going?

Aren't those ties outrageous? It's fun to wander though shops like this to learn what things have value. That way you can be a smarter shopper at thrift shops and garages sales.

Kind of scary to even think about wearing something that ugly... That I I avoid neck ties like the plague now that I rarely have to wear them!
