At the antique market

Let's do a little more shopping at the Broadway Antique Market (BAM!) in Chicago.
It's a great spot to shop for unusual items!

They are known for their collection of high-quality Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern furniture and decor, but I'll save photos of decor accessories for a future post and focus on furniture here.

It is one of Chicago's oldest and largest antique malls, with interesting items from over 75 different dealers.

I'm personally not attracted to most of the Mid Century Modern era's clean and straight lines from the 50's and 60's. The use of plastic, vinyl, fiberglass, chrome, and plywood is not appealing to me, Maybe I'm simply too old to consider this furniture antique! I think of pieces from the 1800's and earlier as antique

These chairs are probably 1960s to 1970s Vintage. The vibrant, bold colors like this burnt orange velvet and the dramatic, oversized profile are characteristic of the later decades of the Mid-Century period and the beginning of the "Retro" era.

This display is a showcase of Late Mid-Century Modern/Mod design, where the clean lines of these chairs meet the vibrant patterns and colors of the wall and artwork.

Most of the items in this display are Mid Century Modern, including the patio furniture, bar stool, lamp and daisy pop art.

Would you purchase any of this furniture?

Hello, the old name made me laugh a lot, because when I saw some paintings and chairs from the 70s, I remembered my grandmother's house and my uncles.
I felt old, lol.
Very good pictures.
Happy evening.

There are many memories here for me, too. And many that don't seem that long ago. 😁

My mom had a lot of orange in our house when I was a kid I think she liked that color, too.

This is very fantastic, beautiful furnitures how i wish this kind of quality woods can possibly be find in our own days but not easy that's why many furniture seats in the markets today are not lasting even though expensive.the orange chair my best colour.

Quality is often not very good these days! Sometimes older is better.

Very cool market! I love seeing all of the 60's and 70's furniture, wouldn't got well in my home though! The chairs in the first couple pictures must be much older, and in great shape. There is some art that's not too bad as well, some of that I might consider. It would be odd buying the painting of the children though, it's a shame that didn't stay in someone's family. But some people aren't sentimental I suppose!

What a fun post!

The painting of the children, I figured the parents died and the children all grew up to dislike each other, so no one wanted the painting. But who knows!

I could almost like the chair's in the first and third photos, but I go more for comfort rather than style!

I like the look of this furniture. But honestly probably wouldn't buy it, our house is more country vibe. I like the art work too. I could see spending a lot of time wandering this market 👍

The antique chairs reminded me of the time I went to our Chairman's office and requested we change his chair to the recent trending ones.

In his words, " please allow me to keep enjoying my old fashioned but healthy chairs ". Actually ,those chairs are large, and spacious with healthy foams.

If am to choose, I will choose the orange spacious chairs.
Those ones will look good to relax on. They will also provide comfort to the bones.

But they would most likely cost a fortune to have.

Thank you for always bringing on sweet memories for us to dwell on💫👏

I agree with you, I'm not really into mid century modern. And I figure things from within living people's lifetimes to be vintage, and 100+ years old as antique, but what do I know, lol.
