Along the highway

To reach my house you must turn off a busy highway and drive down into the river valley. This fellow lives along the highway, just before my turnoff, so I count him as a neighbor.

He is a beautiful draft horse, possibly a Belgian. I am no authority on horses though.
I am not acquainted with his people, but their horse is a very friendly sort! He was coming near to say hello, probably wondering if there was an apple being offered, but traffic was heavy on the highway and it didn't seem wise to stop there for long.

He seems well loved! His stable is beautiful and his fence is decorated with Christmas lights. I suspect Santa will remember to bring him a Christmas gift!

Haha what a nice drive down a country road and friend to meet. I would probably keep an extra apple in my car if I had a neigh-bor like that!

Hi melinda0101100, the landscape is really beautiful and the horse looks very nice and strong in the picture.
I also noticed that they put Christmas lights in the paddocks of the farm, it should look nice at night.

Beautiful horse, nice to know that he is also adapted well with the business of the highway, since it must be very busy and a little bit noisy with all the cars passing by.

Very nice horse. The horses I have met have been very nice and friendly.

Although I live on the outskirts of the city, and there are stables a few miles from home, I don't go out much, so I'm not in contact with these animals often.

However, I remember that when I was young, I traveled to various places and there was a lot of horse riding to work. There was only one incident with a horse that was violent, but all the other horses and mares I remember were very calm and friendly, throughout the months that the work lasted.

When I was a kid many of my friends had horses and we would go riding. Now it seems like it's become far too expensive to keep horses for pleasure.

When I was a child, the family used to go on vacation a few miles outside the capital to a village where we would go horseback riding, cook on the grill, and spend a few days in a cabin. I remember those vacations fondly.

As a teenager I got involved with research work at the University and traveled with a field work group, in which there were times when we used horses for transportation instead of off-road vehicles.

I have no contact with these animals today. And I certainly find keeping horses expensive. Even when I was a child, the horses I knew were for rent, and they were working to generate income. I guess I would like to take a vacation to one of these places again and have a relaxed ride on a steed :)

The horse is beautiful but the location of your house is also very beautiful. Attracted by those lights, Santa himself might bring a basket full of apples for that horse. 🥰
