A lot of balls!

Most of us are excited about Trick-or-treating this weekend, but retail stores are already moving forward and making plans to capture as many holiday dollars as possible. Macy's Department Store is busy decorating.

Commercialization of the Christmas traditions has shifted our celebrations from decorating a live evergreen tree with edible treats and handcrafted decorations, to fake plastic trees where people often buy new ornaments to change the theme each year.
The holiday season is vital for retailers, with decoration sales being a significant part in massive holiday spending.

To maximize the buying window stores begin displaying Christmas items and decorating earlier each year. I've seen stores displaying Christmas merchandise in the summer. It ruins the excitement of the holiday for me

Many people are choosing to minimalize and keep only a small collection of the most meaningful or beloved decorations and
shift the holiday focus away from material goods.

And because it is still October

In my company, and country, we use to prepare for this period herald by the jingles of "Feliz Navidad: from late October 😀😄
All of a sudden the economic issues melt down a lot of hearts and company's rather than go for elaborate decors ,will rather use the money to pay bonuses and leave out the decor.

Some will just manage to put up small decor.
I am looking forward to see what happens this year.

Recently is just the strong financial institutions that go all put for decors yet ,not as crazy as before.
My working place is not an exception a I have not received any prompt from the procurement for the decors.

I am excited about the aura that comes with such a time and am looking forward to see what this time brings.

Supermarkets and retailers are already displaying their decors waiting for ready buyers to come knocking.

Ah, Christmas dont come early these days around my country 🎄
Thank you for sharing Ma'am

I hope companies choose to celebrate people instead of putting up elaborate decorations!

Exactly, that's the idea right now.
Instead of spending much on elaborate decoration, we now choose to celebrate outstanding performance 👏 👌

Commercialization of traditions has truly replaced the family gatherings during festivals with decorations made of real flowers and homemade sweets with artificial but more flashy decorations made of plastic. While these decorations look beautiful, they take away some of the festive spirit. But today's kids love all this because that's what they've always seen. 🌲😊

You are right. It is up to each family to preserve the traditions that are important for them.

I'm with you there, but putting up my fake tree at the beginning of December is so much easier and less messy than a real tree.

Christmas is such a wild thing. I used to love it because it meant time off from work, family visits and maybe a little present. I still do now for those reasons and being able to buy something special for the kids.

I can see how some people don’t like it for suffering their memories or feeling guilty about not going overboard with the shopping. I just choose to take it as it is and enjoy what the season has to offer.

Decorations as supposed to be a bit of fun and not a responsibility so I will procrastinate that until December!

As much as Christmas is over-commercialized... I do miss the big Department stores decorating for the holidays. So many of the grand old stores are gone. The regional ones absorbed into the chains then finally just gone. Maybe I should find time to go to New York this year and see the Christmas decorations.

I've been in NYC during December and waited in line with the kids to see Santa at Macys! Rockefeller Center and Radio City Music Hall can't be missed. Lunch at Tavern on the Green. I hope you go and can spend several days.

I admit that I normally don't start the bulk of my Christmas decorating till the day after Thanksgiving. I usually have a long weekend at that time, so more than it being waiting till after Thanksgiving, it just makes sense because I have the extra long weekend.

That doesn't count for anything I buy new. I have so much that I try not to buy, but once in a while I do and it never goes to the Christmas closet, it just stays out till the rest of the horde joins it.

As I laugh a little, below is what I bought today. I had a crown put on a tooth and I behaved really good, so after I treated myself to a good bought supper which I brought home, but before I got home I stopped a Dollar General to see if they had chrome cleaner and of course had to walk down the Christmas decor isle to get there. Most of their stuff is uneventful, but even with that, below is what came out with me too.

A miniature blow mold Gingerbread house that lights up, a miniature Gingerbread nutcracker holding a Gingerbread house and cookie & I think wood plague that stands up by itself of a Gingerbread Man in a cup of Hot Chocolate?

AND..... a very soft Gingerbread Man throw. ha ha..... geezers.... I need more like a hole in my silly head.

I have an entire Dept 56 village of Christmas houses packed away in totes that haven't seen a Christmas in years because I just don't have the space to display them properly in this house. Until I can use the decorations that I have (and love) I feel rather guilty buying anything new! But I do absolutely adore that throw!

Oh wow....I never owned a village, but I have seen some at homes and many in stores through the years. I always thought they were so awesome. I always wondered how long it took folks to set them up. Someone even had theirs under their giant Christmas tree.

The house I am in is smaller than most places I've lived and there is limited space to put things on tables and the such. Of course I have packed up the regular stuff that is on those places normally and let the Christmas stuff take their place. I never mind doing that and putting the other stuff out, but after, I take forever to get it all put away and the "normal" stuff back out, mainly because it's not fun and I don't want to do it. LOL !

I did over a few years, some years back, let some of it go and kept the most special pieces. Even though the above photo isn't testifying to what I am about to say, I try to go for "bigger and showier"..... instead of lots of little things. I don't know, I probably should not have gone in there after dental work, knowing I would justify something as my prize. LOLOLOLOL.....and Christmas stuff wasn't on my mind till I walked in there.

Sheesh....I'm such a child !
