First Beach Trip Of Summer

First Beach Trip Of Summer

As the year comes to an end and a new one approaches we’re taking a break from the typical cryptocurrency news for some good old fashioned family fun at the beach!

It’s always a special trip, that first beach trip for the summer. The moment you feel the heat lingering a little longer in the evening, the sun sitting higher in the sky. Although, in Melbourne the water is always cold but still good for a refreshing dip. This year our first trip was straight to Torquay. An iconic Aussie coastal town already buzzing with energy as it gears up for the New Year festival.

The quiet coastal town shed it’s winter blues and is now replaced by sun soaked footpaths, packed cafés and a steady stream of people loaded with surfboards, beach umbrellas and excited families.

It is also the gateway to the Great Ocean Road, Torquay has long held a special place in Victoria’s coastal culture. Known as the birthplace of Australian surf brands like Rip Curl and Quiksilver, the town has a deep connection to surfing.

Heading down to Torquay Front Beach was exactly what you’d expect from the first real taste of summer. The sand was filled with families setting up for long days under the sun, kids running back and forth between the water and towels and swimmers easing into the cool ocean to escape the heat. Paddleboards in the calmer waters while groups gathered near the shoreline. Everything you expect from summer right down to bikinis and board shorts.

It has changed a lot and going on a walk through Torquay’s main streets shows just how diverse the area has become. While it still holds onto its surfing roots, there’s a growing mix of modern eateries, boutique stores and family friendly spaces. From surf outlets and beachwear stores to relaxed pubs and scenic restaurants, Torquay now caters to everyone whether you’re here for a day trip or settling in for a longer coastal stay.

Venturing slightly beyond the main beachfront opens up even more of what makes Torquay special. Bells Beach, just a short drive away is one of the most well known global surf locations in the world. Even if you’re not a surfer, standing atop the cliffs and watching the waves roll in is an experience in itself. The rugged coastline with a beautiful ocean view.

What we like about Torquay is that it offers an ideal mix of relaxation and activity. Safe swimming areas, open spaces, playgrounds and plenty of food options make it easy to spend an entire day by the coast without feeling rushed. It’s the perfect place to unwind, slow down and reconnect with the simple joys of summer even the sand between your toes… but ocean breezes and the sound of waves as your background soundtrack are always the best part.

I hope you're all having a wonderful wind down to the year and preparing for 2026 as best you can. For me I am hoping 2026 will be better than 2025.

Happy new year InLeo

Torquay sounds like one of those places that has it all without trying too hard, mixing surf culture with regular family beach days which is rare these days, I personally dont remember going to the beach last summer, might do it this one. Although I dont like crouded places so its hard for me too enjoy when there is just too many ppl and loud music, for me having Bells Beach nearby is a solid bonus even if you are not into surfing, just being there and watching must be cool, taking time off crypto stuff and spend more time outside is probably the smartest move anyone can make, me personally Im not so worry about prices but cant denied it hurts, thx for sharing, remind me to go to the beach this summer.

Home to Bell's beach i been coming here for years when it was a single petrol station and a milkbar with a fish and chip shop many moons ago. Now it is a major tourist destination. The caravan park is no longer just a caravan park, it is a right of passage
