Entre amigos, bailes y pánico [Esp/Eng

Creo que puedo contar con los dedos de mis manos las veces que mis amigos y yo nos hemos reunido. Y eso que llevamos casi 20 años de amistad. Porque resulta que a estos seres humanos los conozco desde que tenía apenas tres años. 😌

Y sé que suena increíble el hecho que, con tanto tiempo, tengamos tan pocas reuniones, pero siempre ha sido así. Desde que empezamos a planear salidas, parecía que el universo conspiraba en nuestra contra: siempre surgía un inconveniente que nos obligaba a cancelar.

I think I can count on my fingers the number of times my friends and I have gotten together. And that's even though we've been friends for almost 20 years. Because it turns out that I've known these people since I was just three years old. 😌

And I know it sounds incredible that, after so much time, we have had so few get-togethers, but it has always been that way. Ever since we started planning outings, it seemed like the universe was conspiring against us: something always came up that forced us to cancel.

Con el tiempo aprendimos que reunir a todo el grupo completo era casi misión imposible😔, por lo que, a veces solo se reúne una pequeña parte del grupo. Pero para que esté todo el grupo, pues, nos conformábamos con vernos en cumpleaños o en alguna ocasión especial (Todos libres, con dinero en el bolsillo y transporte jsakjsa😅).

La última vez fue justo un día antes del cumpleaños de una de mis amigas. Lo hicimos así para que todos pudieran asistir sin complicaciones, aunque igual hubo alguien que no la tuvo tan fácil porque coincidía con un cumpleaños familiar.

Ese día, justo por la mañana había ayudado a mi hermanita a grabar una entrevista (de eso hablé en un post anterior). Apenas terminamos, corrí a casa, me arreglé en una hora y media y volví a salir para la reunión.

Over time, we learned that getting the whole group together was almost impossible😔, so sometimes only a small part of the group would meet up. But to get the whole group together, we settled for seeing each other on birthdays or special occasions (when we were all free, had money in our pockets, and had transportation hahaha😅).

The last time was just one day before one of my friends' birthdays. We did it that way so that everyone could attend without complications, although there was still someone who didn't have it so easy because it coincided with a family birthday.

That day, just in the morning, I had helped my little sister record an interview (I talked about that in a previous post). As soon as we finished, I ran home, got ready in an hour and a half, and went back out for the meeting.

Nos encontramos en el lugar donde pasaríamos la noche. Entre charlas sobre estudios, actividades diarias y uno que otro chismecito, las horas pasaron. En un momento nos pusimos a bailar para seguir disfrutando y todo iba perfecto hasta que, al regresar a sentarme, me di cuenta de que no encontraba mi teléfono.

Entré en pánico. Pensé que algún amigo me estaba jugando una broma, pero no, nadie sabía nada. Después de unos eternos minutos, lo vi en el suelo, intacto😅. Sentí un alivio tremendo y hasta decidí entregárselo al mismo amigo que había sospechado, para poder volver a bailar y olvidarme del susto.

We were at the place where we would spend the night. Between conversations about studies, daily activities, and the occasional bit of gossip, the hours passed. At one point, we started dancing to continue enjoying ourselves, and everything was going perfectly until, when I returned to my seat, I realized I couldn't find my phone.

I panicked. I thought a friend was playing a joke on me, but no, no one knew anything. After what seemed like an eternity, I saw it on the floor, intact😅. I felt tremendous relief and even decided to give it to the same friend I had suspected, so I could go back to dancing and forget about the scare.

Más tarde, los familiares de mi amiga comenzaron a cantar, luego se unieron algunos de mis amigos, y finalmente llegó la medianoche. Entre risas y aplausos, todos entonamos el “cumpleaños feliz”. Fue un momento sencillo, pero lleno de cariño, de esos que te recuerdan por qué vale la pena tanto esfuerzo para lograr juntarnos.

Later, my friend's relatives began to sing, then some of my friends joined in, and finally midnight arrived. Amid laughter and applause, we all sang “Happy Birthday.” It was a simple moment, but full of affection, one of those moments that remind you why it's worth all the effort to get together.
