[En/Esp] SketchBook Chapter 14: Sky or Underworld

Hello, my dear Hivers!
This time chapter number 14, another winged creature has been born, i don't know if it will be an angel or a demon.

En esta oportunidad el capítulo número 14, ha nacido otra criatura alada que no sé si será ángel o demonio.

Again as if automatically, i take my little art book to draw the lines that connect me with the other world and that's how i gave shape to this winged creature, unlike other sketches, this one i didn't add many details because i wasn't sure how the background would be, i would just let myself go and see how it would turn out.

Nuevamente como de forma automática, tomo mi pequeño libro de arte para trazar las líneas que me conecten con el otro mundo y así fue como le di forma a esta criatura alada, a diferencia de otros bocetos, este no le agregué muchos detalles porque no estaba segura de cómo sería el fondo, sólo me dejaría llevar a ver cómo resultaba.

Initially i intended my creature to have a kind of aura or blue or turquoise flame, the idea reminded me of the villain from Hercules called Hades... But then the idea changed for no apparent reason, it just became something very different from what i had thought and i really started to like this new direction.

Inicialmente pretendía que mi criatura tuviese como una especie de aura o flama azulada o turquesa, la idea me hizo recordar al villano de Hércules llamado Hades... Pero luego la idea cambió sin ninguna razón aparente, sólo se fue tornando algo muy diferente a lo que había pensado y la verdad me empezó a gustar este nuevo rumbo.

Something i liked about this particular drawing, like the last ones i have done, i used few materials, it was a simple process, although there was a moment when i got nervous because alcohol markers are not a technique i master and when you start coloring the ink is usually a little darker, the paper gets wet, so you have to wait a little to see the resulting tone. I only used three shades of markers, 2 turquoise shades and one warm gray to add some shadows, with a calibrated black ink pen i added the outline. I really liked the atmosphere that resulted from the decision to color everything with that deep turquoise, it added a mysterious and melancholic touch to the drawing that i had not planned. I don't know exactly if it's a creature from the sky or from the Underworld.

Algo que me gustó de este dibujo en particular, al igual que los últimos que he hecho, usé pocos materiales, fue un proceso simple, aunque hubo un momento en el que me puse nerviosa pues, los marcadores de alcohol no es una técnica que domine y cuando comienzas a colorear la tinta suele ser un poco más oscura, se humedece el papel, entonces hay que esperar un poco para ver el tono resultante. Sólo use tres tonos de marcadores, 2 tonos turquesas y uno gris calido para agregar ciertas sombras, con bolígrafo calibrado de tinta negra agregué el delineado. Me gustó mucho el ambiente que resultó de haber tomado la decisión de colorear todo con ese turquesa profundo, le agregó un toque misterioso y melancólico al dibujo que no tenía planeado. No sé exactamente si es una criatura del cielo o del Inframundo.

While i was thinking about what i wanted to add to the background, i wasn't sure if i wanted to overload it with as many details in ink as the previous drawings, this one had a different look, so i wanted it to keep a certain simplicity, so being a drawing with a dark and deep complexion, i needed to add some light. With a cream colored pencil i began to illuminate certain areas of my creature and then in front of me appeared a kind of portal or mysterious tunnel to another world behind my silent and winged creature. I added curved lines with the cream pencil, then with the black ink and deepened certain areas with the warm gray marker.

Mientras pensaba en qué quería agregarle al fondo, no estaba segura si quería recargarlo de tantos detalles en tinta como los anteriores dibujos, este tenía otro semblante, así que quería que conservara cierta simplicidad, asi que al ser un dibujo con una tez oscura y profunda, faltaba agregar un poco de luz. Con un lápiz de color crema comencé a iluminar ciertas áreas de mi criatura y luego frente a mí apareció una especie de portal o túnel misterioso hacia otro mundo detrás de mi criatura silenciosa y alada. Agregué líneas curvas con el lápiz color crema, luego con la tinta negra y profundicé ciertas zonas con el marcador gris cálido.

Although there were small moments when i felt a little panic when using the markers and i thought it would be a disaster, i loved the way my winged creature came out of some underworld or melancholic sky. That dense greenish swamp-like color was a good choice, i like my art book to be a small varied gallery, where each drawing has a different personality and essence.

Aunque hubo pequeños momentos en que sentí un poco de pánico al usar los marcadores y pensé que sería un desastre, me encantó como fue quedando mi criatura alada salida de algún Inframundo o cielo melancólico. Ese color verdoso denso como de pantano fue una buena elección, me gusta que mi librito de arte sea una pequeña galería variada, donde cada dibujo tenga una personalidad y esencia diferente.
