The Process : Cutting and Sewing 3D Pockets on a Short.
I have been wanting to try sewing this type of pocket for the longest time but styles that has been coming my way hasn't been anything like it.
However, I decided to give it a shot today and put into good use the remnant of two fabrics for this purpose.
Materials To Be Used.
- Fabrics
- Matching Thread
The Cutting Process
Step 1 : Make a shape of a pocket on your main fabric.
Step 2 : Cut what you measured on the fabric you want used for the pocket and add two inches allowances at the upper and lower part of the pocket. ( This allowance is for the folding in)
Step 3 : Make a semi shape of the pocket on the fabric with two inches at each sides of the shape ( This is needed for the box effect)
The Sewing
Step 1 : Sew the semi shape and raise the machine footer up whenever you get to the curves.( It ease the stress of trying to get the square shape)
Step 2 : Do the folding of the upper part.
Step 3 : Place the upper edge of the fabric to the lower part of the fabric and sew the cone shape straight. Make use to cut out the excess
Do that for both edges.
Step 4 : Place what you have now on the sketched shape and sew it, following what you've drawn.
You should have this at the end, if you've followed the steps correctly.
Meanwhile guys, how does this truly look ?
