Night Visit at Silliman University - My Alma Mater
It was never our intention to visit the school campus I used to roam around in my college years at night.
My family, my sister, and my nephew were dining near my alma mater when we decided to visit. It was already dark. Way back in college, my sister and I were used to roam campus at night. We live in a dormitory inside campus. So it was not unusual to take a stroll at night.
This time was different. It's been two decades since I graduated and our visit brought back fond memories. The areas where we used to hang out with my friends and classmates. The Library. Our college building, the gym, and more.
When we got to the gate, my sister and I asked the security guard if we could get inside. He asked what was our purpose for entering the campus. We told him we just wanted to show our children where we used to study. Good thing I brought with me my Alumni ID. My sister is also one of the Alumni but she did not have her ID. After presenting the ID, he let us in.
Then the tour "night" tour began. We showed our children and my husband the dormitory where my sister and I used to reside. the building is not a dorm anymore but an office building and I think classrooms too.
Silliman University's main campus spans 62 hectares and it is located along Hibbard Avenue, Dumaguete City.
We went to the SU Main Library. Since it was nighttime, our pictures were quite dark 😀 Just across the main library is the Luce Auditorium.
There were no students except for the dorm residents who I think just got back from the Christmas break.
Walking the road along the College of Nursing. I did not take a lot of photos. My phone camera can't capture good ones at night. My sister got a nice camera phone so I told her to use hers.
The children enjoyed the stroll as I and my sister told them about some experiences in each building that we passed by.
We reached the SU Church. During our time classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays mornings were up to 10 AM only to give way to devotionals and other meetings. Devotionals were usually held at the SU Church.
There's so much to see on the campus. The big Acacia trees, the Amphi Theatre, the grounds. Well, since it was dark, we were not able to enjoy its beauty. But it was a fun experience for us especially for our children. They even asked if they could also go to college there. I told them its kind of expensive but we'll see.
We skipped telling them some creepy stories about the campus. 😂
They might get scared and not want to finish the tour. It's a 123-year-old university so it expected to hear "horror" stories inside the campus. Just this morning, I read a post from one of the professors there about an experience they had during class. But yeah, I heard a lot of stories before too. 😀
And so back to our tour, we exited at the same gate we made and entrance, and thanked the security officer for allowing us to roam around campus. There were a lot of entrances and exits since it's a huge university.
Photo taken before we headed to the exit. The Silliman University Church at night.
My apologies, I did not have a lot of photographs during our visit. Next time if we'll do the visit during day time.
Thank you for reaching this far and taking the short tour with me.
Until next time!
xoxo,
Met

Wow, even though you didn't show all the pictures inside SU, I can just say it's really beautiful and so big. Hehehe, I suddenly got scared by those horror stories, you really can't avoid having horror stories in any school, especially the ones that have been around for a long time.i like sa church too
It is a beautiful university and a bit scary 😂
What a nice stroll with your family, hope I can also visit SU soon.

Good university in a beautiful city with wonderful people. Dumaguete for me is a good place to be and I always miss visiting the place. Happy to have seen glimpses of SU again.😇
Nice stroll down memory lane.
